Had this #DeathGuard herald for a while and decided to finally paint him today. Death Guard is definitely the faction I paint when I’m seeking my comfort zone. #miniaturepainting #warhammer40k

Hey, I know I've been reposting this a lot. But I really appreciate all the help I've gotten, there is still a lot more left that I need to do (Utilities, groceries for the month, etc) but if you want to help me out this is my donation box.

Teaching a friend how to paint minis. The black and white sketch took me nearly no time, less than an hour. The interesting bit: the upper half of the kimono is diluted paint. The sash and bottom half is transparent paint. Guess which I’ll use more for these kinds of paint jobs? Paint in alt text.

The back view of a filament print of a humanoid frog dressed as a samurai. He is wearing a kimono, sash, and two scabbards are visible on his left side. The top half is painted with Golden SoFlat paints (dioxazine violet deep and I think quinacridone red) that have been diluted to allow the black and white underpainting to provide the highlights and shading. The bottom half was painted with Liquitex transparent soft body acrylic paints, quinacrdione red and dioxazine purple.

The underpainting is more visible for the lower half and the colors are more saturated. The conclusion is that even diluted non-transparent paints will blow out the underpainting to some degree while the transparent paints will show more of it.

One could easily use non-transparent paints to provide highlights and specular lights if desired. (And I will!)

Did you know you only need a small brain to make silly little drawings?

4 panel comic:
Panel 1: pink blob guy on a table, pencil in their hands. Grey circle on a piece of paper and a glass of water on the table. They say “look here”
Panel 2: Proudly, they hold up the drawing of a grey blobby character on two stick legs up in the air. The pink blob says “I drew this!”
Panel 3: Satisfied they sit back down on the table. They now go “it’s not much, but..” The grey drawing looks a bit peeved because the drawer is calling it “not much”
Panel 4: But it’s okay, because now the pink blob is very pleased finally. He says “it came from my brain!” Holding the pencil up. The grey drawing blob is happy again, too. End well, all well!

I've had to accept the reality that I won't finish this Unit entry for Golden Demon this year, but I'm still going to keep painting it and enter it next year! I still adore the idea and am happy with all the progress I've made so far ❤️
