I'm taking some time out of comics while I work on my health, so I won't be at @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social this year - hope whoever is going has a wicked time, and to see you next year 🤞

UK based illustrators, please fill out this survey from AOI by January 31st. The UK government is proposing a new AI policy that would let AI companies freely use copyright protected work without permission — unless you explicitly opt-out. www.surveymonkey.com/r/ai_consult...

Graphic reading: “Attention illustrators! We need your help filling and sharing out most crucial AI survey yet”

Graphic reading: “The UK government wants to let AI companies use your creative works to train their models.

No license, no fee. Only a vague promise that you can opt-out. With no indication of how this option would work.

Think this sounds fair? Neither do we.”

Graphic that reads: “We are currently responding to the government’s current AI consultation, where data is king.

We need to provide solid numbers in order to present a compelling argument to achieve change.

Real data = better policy.

This is where you come in.”

Graphic that reads: “Your voice counts.

Take 5-10 minutes ti complete our AI consultation survey today (link in bio)

Share this post with your peers to help spread the word!

The survey is for all illustrators”

This was Thursday. My beloved Bellatrix bandmates and I took the stage at the Cheese and Grain, Frome (the bar stage, not the main stage, not quite yet) and played a bunch of rowdy angry girl songs. Thanks to all who came to boogie 💕💕

In the worst days of my depression, worst days of chronic illness, I constantly have to fight the idea that I'm a "burden". It's evil to label anyone as a burden. We need to talk about quality of life for the individual not how much money a human life is worth.

Can we please not use the word "burden" when talking about end of life care. Yikes.

Have you ever seen or shared an 'oh no' cartoon? Did you know the creator is a queer Welsh artist? Did you know they're being agressively pursued & harassed w/lawsuits from a US organisation trying to steal their intellectual property? Did you know you can donate to cover the horrific legal costs?

Consider this my snail of approval 🐌 [ #art ]

Illustration depicting a cutesy snail crossing a grassy field while flower petals are flying about. The sky behind the snail is blue and the bottom half is covered by giant clouds. The illustration is contained in a golden circle and surrounded by the text: you're allowed to take your time.

Hey folks, my silly heist novel is on general release today! If you fancy reading about an idiot robbing a corporation's fancy Christmas party, here are the places you can get it books2read.com/u/me1BoR or on my own site (digital only) kateashwin.com/shop/product... #booksky 📚

The cover for hit The Ground Running, an offbeat cyberpunk heist novel! Tall skyscrapers tower in the background as our protagonist, a young man in a red jacket, takes a flying leap out of a strange airship.

Advertising that the book is available digitally or as a paperback, and features things like high-action Leverage-style heists, enemies to reluctant besties, and being gay while doing crime. There's also a crocodile, though the text doesn't mention that, it's just a treat for you, the alt-text reader

I came across an outdated guide on image grid sizing crop/proportions for bsky earlier, and I felt it was important to create an updated version! Please use this new guide instead!

Up-to-date BlueSky Crop Aspect Ratio
Crop Sizes for Bluesky as of 18 Oct 2024

By default, single images are uncropped. If image is too tall (Exceeds the 1:2 aspect ratio) then it will be cropped. Single images that are too tall may be scaled down but aspect ratio is preserved

With two images, both of them share a square aspect ratio of 1:1

For three images, the first image is square (1:1) while the other two are half-squares (2:1)

And for 4 images, all of them are 3:2
