Can recommend meeting another local author for coffee, cake, and lots of discussion about writing and publishing. Sara's work is awesome! 5 stars. No notes. @sara_fox_author

It is possible that the two could overlap, I guess 🤷‍♀️

When my daughter was little, we’d sing her ‘bobbing along on the bottom of the beautiful briny sea’ from Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Her name is Bryony and she thought it was about her. 😂

@millareed.bsky.social on my morning walk earlier I listened to the Loneliness pod, then the subsequent pair of shows about Friends/Friendship. Enjoyed. Plenty to say! Byt first, my 3rd novel (Secrets We Hide From Ourselves) is all about enduring friendship, and how things can be blurred.

Ah, I see. Thank goodness all Nigel’s are not created equal! 😁. Thought I’d take a break from following politics after Starmer’s resignation, the along came Binny Mc Binface…

It’s really common in latter years, we all move around so much. It’s a two parter, so watch out for the next one too.

And it’s a hat trick! Today Yours became the third national magazine to feature an article about me finding Mum’s diaries and ‘According to Eve’, the book that was the outcome. I even made the cover (the tiny pic above Dawn French’s head 😁)

@millareed.bsky.social I’m just reflecting in the rosy glow of being mentioned in The Emergency Chicken. I enjoyed it. Some great points that I related to, especially the bits about how change can feel hard because of how people will react. Thank you so much for the book plug…

I have a good photographer friend who once snapped an overgrown piano in black and white - it’s a beautiful pic. When a family member threw out a piano, he acquired it. It’s in his garden, planted with ferns and succulents provided by me. Give it a year or two…

I sold 18 copies when Prima was out - I wasn’t running any ads - so yes, it helps. The harsh truth is many millions of books are published, so no one will find yours unless you shout about it. It’s very hard work!

I hjad a lovely article in Prima last October too, Gill, What I've learnt is that when you get into one mag, sometimes the others get in touch. Every day is a school day! Hope you're ok x

Out today (UK) In Take a Break monthly, you can read how I met Fred’s son, and more about Mum and Fred’s reunion (middle pic) and the heartache that followed. Picture top left is Mum and I on a cruise shortly before she died. Bless you, Mum.

I wrote to MP recently saying I'm appalled by Ofcom's decision to grant Tesla energy a licence to supply electricity in UK &, given Musk was trying to get far right to overthrow gov last year, he should be nowhere near our infrastructure. I asked whether there's anything we can do. I got this reply

I agree that we must do everything in our power to prevent the spread of dangerous and polarising far right wing ideologies across the UK. We unequivocally condemned the comments you referenced from Elon Musk. As Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said in her response, his address was “abhorrent” and “no-one gets to mess with British democracy”.

I would be happy to relay your concerns around the approval of Tesla’s energy license to my ministerial colleagues in the Department Energy Security and Net Zero. Please let me know if I have your permission to do so.

Thank you once again for contacting me and for sharing your views.

With best wishes

Thank you Nige, you might find yourself quoted on the podcast 😁 (I’ll give your books a plug!) it is a personality trait - some of us welcome change and others are terrified. I guess knowing where you are on the line is a good starting point.

Podcast recording starts this week! The first thing we're discussing is how we deal with change. Does anyone have examples of what has helped you get through big changes?

Terrible, but standard for talent competitions. I read the entry forms for a couple of things like X Factor and Star for a Night and the day the same. No wonder songwriters rarely perform their own stuff - it’s a huge risk.

Enough procrastination! I finished the first draft of my WIP and did a couple of read throughs before getting some eyes (4 pairs) on it before Christmas. Now is the time to start the Serious Editing. Wish me well. #writingcommunity #amwriting
