Although I'm not sure how a footbridge at the southern end would work owing to the curve. Sealing off the northern end seems much more practical!

The article says that the southern half of the platform would need to be sealed off for Eurostar trains, so that confirms it could only be operated by 200m trains, not 400m trains. Also suggests to me that the new footbridge would be at the southern end, rather than the northern where you drew it?
