Most liberal politicians spend all their time telling the voters why they can’t have nice things. Mamdani makes actually nice things happen. Unlike other mayors, he doesn’t hate his voters

Susan Collins is always horrified by the predictable results of her own vote, which means Mainers who genuinely care about Susan Collins should elect Troy Jackson as he won’t vote for things that wind up upsetting Susan Collins, unlike Susan Collins

Jefferson and Hemmings: historians always welcome new evidence, but Annette Gordon-Reed settled this question over two decades ago, through impeccable research and careful analysis. Jefferson was the father.

Trump banning some media outlets is bad, but the White House Press Corps is mostly bullshit, asking superficial questions and serving as a megaphone for Trumps inanities. And holding a chummy, clubby annual dinner with the guy. It's just performative pseudo journalism

I guess now we will have to rename "New York" as "New America" and people can live in "New America, New America, America," and right across the river will be "America City" also in a different "New America," but in that one people will go the "the America shore"

The oft-maligned sewer socialists of early 20th-century Milwaukee were in fact strategic champions of working-class interests, combining a pragmatic legislative strategy with efforts to organize workers outside the state.

The Sewer Socialists Were Pragmatic Class Warriors
Milwaukee’s “sewer socialists” have often been dismissed as tepid reformers. In fact, they were pragmatic champions of a world beyond capitalism who were laser-focused on organizing the working class.

There is a lot to say about the Nolan Odyssey movie. But one point that I think has not been emphasized enough is: this is a film about living in LA, as Nolan, my erstwhile British compatriot and age mate, has done for years. I gather it’s a strange place.

How are they planning to determine citizenship once the SC abolishes the 14th amendment? Assume Trump would just want to sell it, while others would want some sort of test based on knowledge of Lee Greenwood lyrics or praise for Trump. Seriously, do they have a proposal?
