We use data from ~2,000 individuals and 41 species to show that factors such as encephalization and bipedalism explain why at population level we are so predominantly right-handed (no other primate species shows it this strongly) www.ox.ac.uk/news/2026-05... @oxford-anthro.bsky.social @ox.ac.uk

Why is almost everyone right-handed? The answer may lie in how we learned to walk
Humans are the only primates with a population-wide hand preference. A new Oxford-led study, 'Bipedalism and brain expansion explain human handedness', published in PLOS Biology, traces it back to bip...

We discovered a nearly complete bison skeleton in the Sima de Arrafela (Urbasa-Andia Natural Park, Navarre). Dated to ~4000 BP, the remains include a Chalcolithic copper arrowhead embedded between the ribs. This is the most recent bison found in the Iberian Peninsula www.youtube.com/watch?v=GELB...

📣 New Paper Alert! 🤲👣 Delighted to share our work on the coevolution of hands and feet in modern humans. We find strong integration between autopods, with feet driving the process, likely in response to functional pressures linked to bipedalism. doi.org/10.1016/j.jh...

This week I had the opportunity to speak about challenges in reconstructing hominin pelvic remains, at the University of Cambridge. This was possible thanks to the organization of an AMAZING workshop by my dear colleagues @juliaramendi.bsky.social and @mikelarlegi.bsky.social (1/n).
