I almost did this with hotels once. The clue was Portland, Oregon hotels are much cheaper than Portland, Maine.

The mayor used to be my boss at OU and I probably have a dozen emails from state reps asking for my cell number because they are visiting my class.

Students also have the opportunity to teach their own classes if they want. Our last two students earned TT jobs at FAU and URI. Previous students work in industry, state government, and tenured at University of Illinois, Springfield. Reach out if you have questions.

Our current offer is a five-year commitment at $27.5k over 12-months. We also cover fees, health insurance, books, conference travel and ICPSR or similar. Students TA for the intro class in year one, are assigned to a faculty member in years 2-4, and no assignment in year 5.

The Carl Albert Center is recruiting a grad student(s) for next fall. Students earn PhDs in political science joint with the dept. of political science. We want students interested in American politics who will write a dissertation that can be chaired by myself, Rachel Blum or Chuck Finocchiaro.

I just Venmoed a parent from my kid’s class and her user name ended with a 95. I’m going to assume she is a big Dolly Parton fan and not 20 years younger than me.

I think John Sununu and Mike Rogers would win tie breakers vs. Hern based on previous Senate and House service on the Republican side (if they win of course).

The law is slightly different now. Inhofe keeps popping up in these cases. Sen. Armstrong replaced Mullin who was serving the rest of Inhofe’s term.

I’m up here in Canada and someone asked where I was from. When I said Oklahoma they said they were jealous of our politics. It took all of my powers to not respond or ask a follow up.

I'm working on an assignment for class where students are allowed to use AI to predict all of the House and Senate elections and a five page summary. Any advice on the AI side to put in the assignment? At a minimum, I want them to turn in their prompts.

Had some fun trying to think about how to dramatize voters' choices in the 2024 election, so I pulled CES data and let you guess how respondents (validated voters) actually voted (or said they did) in 2024. profmusgrave.github.io/votergame2024/

The Dolly Parton station is on and 9-5 comes on. I tell kiddo this song comes from a movie that says women can be the boss and are just as smart as men. Kiddo tells me that's right because boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider and girls go to college to get more knowledge. Can't argue with that.

It looks like turnout will be a little over 300,000 with a little over 150k for each candidate. Oklahoma's voting age population is around 3 million. This means about 10% of the voting age population voted in the Republican runoff. Half of them voted for the winner tonight.

An added twist to the Oklahoma race is the state party endorsed Mazzei too.

Mike Crespin @mikecrespin.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
Mazzei still up by a touch with 75% precincts reporting. Lots of votes left in Oklahoma (OKC) and Tulsa counties.

Credit to the NY Times but results are looking very regional with Drummond winning the the north and western parts of the state and Mazzei the eastern areas. Roger's county, potential home of the Inola smelter has not reports. Mazzie is for (now) and Drummond is against.

Mike Crespin @mikecrespin.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
That would be just some of the early and absentee votes. A second dump came in and Drummond is still up. 54-46

Gentner Drummond is leading Mike Mazzei 53%-47% in the Oklahoma Gubernatorial election with just early and absentee votes reported. Mazzei is the Trump endorsed candidate. Drummond is distantly related to the Pioneer Woman!
