This Thursday, we're kicking off the ground game for the Regional Transit Measure, with events in each of the 5 counties. There are 50 days until the election. In that time, we need to convince Bay Area voters to invest in public transit! In San Francisco? Come rally and then talk to BART riders!

I'm fascinated by the recount going on in Florida's 11th Congressional District Republican primary, where Joe Strada leads Carey Baker by 393 votes or 0.48%. FL state law requires a machine recount when the margin is <0.5% unless the loser waives it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOi4...

In #TN05 Chaz Molder, mayor of Columbia (Nashville suburb) has spent over $1m and holds a big (but not yet definitive) edge over Yolanda Cooper-Sutton, Memphis councilmember who hasn't filed any FEC spending reports. The district is gerrymandered between the two candidates' strongholds.

(IMO, first-past-the-post partisan primaries in solid partisan districts feel wrong bc a small share of voters can decide the next elected for everyone. That said, top-two jungle primaries also have flaws. Here's hoping states & cities continue to experiment and innovate on better systems.)

Hypothesis: Outsider challenges within the Democratic Party are more viable in New York's partisan primaries than California's top-two nonpartisan primaries, because the proportion of voters needed to win is smaller.

Best reporting I've seen to date on what last week's @airresources.bsky.social vote could mean for Muni: cuts to free and reduced-fare programs, and a big gap in capital funding for the upgrades to the train control system.

A California environmental board voted to cut $202M from SF’s eco-friendly transit
Muni stands to lose hundreds of millions with changes to a state program that funds public transportation by charging firms for permits to emit carbon.
