If you could choose just one problem suffered by your country to have the government (or even a magic wand) solve (or at least significantly mitigate) what would it be?

Even non-tariffed American goods will go up in price in parallel to newly tariffed foreign competitor products. Buy American then the corporates get the difference. If you buy the import the government gets the difference. So it’s a win-win, But not for you 😒 www.tiktok.com/t/ZT2VCJcMu

"Mirror Rock at Purple Lake," Robert Kalthoff, 1968, oil on canvas, 24 x 30", private collection. American artist Robert Kalthoff (1936 - ) excelled at painting Classicalist-inspired Impressionist scenes of casually posed fit young men. #NudeArt #Naturism

A painting of a nude young man standing on a rock surrounded by water by a beach in a wooded landscape. He is bent over with his hands on his knees gazing at the water. Circular ripples can be seen where he is looking; perhaps he had just thrown an object in the water to cause them.

Everyone benefited (including us). Perhaps we did not benefit as much as we thought that we should have. So now we are kicking over the monopoly board. Game over. I really hope the new game (when it stabilizes) will be better. In the meantime there will be much turmoil . 4/

A major shift in world geopolitics is underway. With a large part of our prosperity built on safe world trade, we will be seeing and feeling some very painful differences. America has enabled nearly 80 years of safe shipping lanes and free trade. 3/

Every Putin talking point is being repeated almost verbatim. The U.S. may as well exit NATO and call it quits. The Russians want troops to be pulled out of the Baltic states too. If that happens, we will see Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania re-absorbed into Russia in due course. 2/

Well, today this administration essentially threw Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people under the bus and is in the process of driving it backwards and forwards. They also made it clear that they consider our European allies to be irrelevant. 1/ 🧵

A long but very interesting read. If this techno-feudalism really does take hold, it will not care about the people as a whole. And that will be the downfall of such technocrats. They will all end up on pitchforks. So it goes. www.notesfromthecircus.com/p/the-plot-a...

The core problem for our species is that our economic system is firmly based on perpetual growth. This is an absurd course to take on a finite planet. Ongoing degradation of critical resources, such as soil, water, air, forests, arable land etc. will not end well on.soundcloud.com/rWiwUMdN9wcJ...
