I have been in this barrel of apples for decades and have seen several bad apples come and go, but they have never spoiled the whole bunch. We are a volunteer org, so there are gaps that let bad actors or decisions snake in. We need to modernize and tighten the rings that hold us together.

The forgotten key word in the Horror Writers Association, it turns out, is not Horror, nor Writer, but ASSOCIATION. The majority of our horror writing community clearly does not wish to be associated with AI slop or right wing extremism. Please hold a General Meeting @horrorwritersassoc.bsky.social

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste

28 Years Later — very good zombie vibes but I wanted so much more of some things (the gang at end, the alphas) and a whole lot less of others (the tired familial tropes and the overwritten talks and the lack of plot coherency). The sequel will be better if we don’t have to wait 28 Centuries.
