How can space help us see changes across Earth? At #ArsElectronica Festival 2026 in Linz, @miguelbooth.bsky.social took audiences from satellite observations and climate data to protecting Earth from asteroid impacts. Explore the interactive Climate from Space app: cfs.climate.esa.int 📸 vog.photo
A large projection of Earth showing Africa, Europe and Asia, with climate data including “4.6 mm per decade” and “111 Gt/yr”. An audience is seated below the screen in the darkened Deep Space 8K.A speaker holding a microphone stands in front of an audience as a projection shows the Arctic region, sea ice and the text “Summer Sea Ice Extent” in Deep Space 8K.A speaker addresses an audience in front of a large projection of a mountain glacier. Colour-coded lines illustrate changes across the glacier.A projection shows an aerial view of a city partly covered by a large translucent ice cube. Text explains that the cube represents one year of ice loss, while an audience watches from below.

Weather looks good at Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana 😎 And look at that rocket! Join us live for liftoff at 22:10 CEST on watch.esa.int/two and www.youtube.com/live/vzytcrG.... @eumetsat.int @transport.esa.int @esa.int
Ariane 6 launch vehicle stands on the launch pad at Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana under a bright blue sky with scattered clouds. The rocket is viewed from a low angle, emphasising its height, while lightning towers, floodlight masts and launch infrastructure frame the scene. In the second image, Ariane 6 is positioned inside the open mobile gantry, with ESA and CNES logos visible on the structure as the rocket prepares for rollout and launch operations.

Italy’s IRIDE constellation is growing fast🛰️ Seven new satellites were launched on 3 May on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. This brings the constellation’s total to 31, expanding one of Europe’s largest Earth observation systems for environmental monitoring and risk management: www.esa.int/Applications...

Red‑stained snow in southwestern Crete🇬🇷 Captured over the Lefka Ori just before Storm Erminio brought Saharan dust in early April, the first Copernicus Sentinel-2 image contrasts with the second, acquired on 19 April: reduced snow cover, with what remains visibly tinted red. (Images shown rotated)
Satellite image of the Lefka Ori mountain range in Crete, Greece, showing steep, rugged terrain and deep valleys covered in snow. Satellite image of the Lefka Ori mountain range in Crete, Greece. The snow‑covered peaks show a reddish tint caused by Saharan dust transported by Storm Erminio, highlighting rugged ridges and valleys under mostly clear conditions.
