Sorry for blowing up your notifs. I agree/think that I.P. was attached to this unnecessarily. I think Capcom wanted another movie and grabbed a hot director and were like "go for it" and he swung for the fences with ideas he had for other stuff and just stitched it to RE in a few spots.

I remember in the theater, about 30 mins before the end of Backrooms, this guy next to me goes "wtf this isn't the lore" and I'm like dude, this is a standalone movie. If you want the lore and experience of the source material, you can still engage with it in the same place you did the first time.

We got to see the Arklay mountains, they werent called that by name, but the lady asked him if he had chains and 4WD. I think you're right, ultimately. I think the director just wanted to fully A.U. it because he knew the changes/differences from the game to the movie would have fans up in arms.

I literally just got done watching it, and loved it. Lots of laughs and screams in the theater, really good movie watching experience. Idk I know people have their gripes, but in my mind, if you write/read/enjoy A.U. fanfiction, then this 2026 version of Raccoon City has to be believable.
