Pet parrots which typically live alone (whilst those in the wild live in large flocks) were given the technology to call each other. They would use it for up to three hours a day, and developed favourite friends 💔 on.ft.com/3K05vhS

When a parrot wanted to connect with a distant friend, a touchscreen showed a selection of other birds available online. The parrots learned to activate the screen, designed specially for them, by touching it gently with their tongues rather than pecking aggressively with their beaks.
"We had 26 birds involved," said Hirskyj-Douglas. "They would use the system up to three hours a day, with each call lasting up to five minutes." The interactions ranged from preening and playing with toys to loud vocal exchanges.
"When we went through the data, we found that most of these parrots had favourite friends," said Hirskyj-Douglas.

Yeah. Osaka has a small venue and the tournament happens during peak tourist season in a tourist heavy city, bad combo for availability, yeah. Fukuoka is an underrated city at least! Great food and cheap accommodations.

BuySumoTickets is still around, but they've had to suspend tickets in Tokyo entirely. They now recommend Fukuoka (the November location) and Nagoya (the July one) as the best way to get tickets from them for the foreseeable future.

Yep! The one such event I can tell you about is that some couple brought their receipts to the gate and tried to use them as a ticket. They were refused and threw a temper tantrum and caused quite a ruckus. Quite a no-no in Japanese culture. They were too stupid to see the sumo.

Sorry Jess! I saw your original post about wanting sumo tickets, and usually would have recommended a 3rd party vendor that was incredible. But they've been banned by the JSA because 3 people that they sold tickets to caused issues at events. So now, we can't easily get tickets anymore. :(
