1980 - A Disneyland Monorail heads across our "freeway retreat," bound for the Disneyland Hotel. Replacing the Viewliner (forerunner of the Monorail) in Tomorrowland in 1959, the Disneyland-Alweg Monorail was the first daily operating system of this type in America.

In 1961, the system was expanded by 2½ miles to serve the Disneyland Hotel, which at that time consisted of the Garden Wings (note the absence of the Sierra Tower in the photo). The Hotel would eventually boast expansions of its own: the Marina and Bonita Towers, plus many other shops and restaurants.

I vaguely remember when I watched the World of Color episode “Disneyland Around the Seasons” on that screen. I doubt it will happen again but I’d kill to see them show more legacy content for APs instead of getting a poster for the thousandth time

But seriously, the tale of me working at Disney was a tale of less CM morale each year. Disney didn't care about turnover because there's a line 400 miles long of folks who have a dream job of working in the parks. To them, everyone was replaceable, and all CMs were created equal
