“Show me what Jandek-in-a-mine looks like” “This is what Jandek-in-a-mine looks like”
The weird, awesome open space of the Widow Jane Mine, outside Rosendale, NY. It is a vast open cavern (formerly a limestone mine, with a monolithic central supporting column). There is a stage with lights set up on the left of the column, and concertgoers in the foreground to the right. Jandek, all in black, stage left in front of the huge central supporting limestone column, in a big Heisenberg-ian serious black hat, with an electric guitar. Stage right is @jandektales.bsky.social in a black dress and purple leggings.

My church has a rooftop farm that grows a few hundred pounds of produce per season, mainly for our guests at the food pantry, but that’s with loads of volunteer labor.
The rooftop farm at Hell’s Kitchen Farm Project. There are dozens of kiddy pools filled with soil growing various produce on the roof of a building in Hell’s Kitchen.

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"

He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"

He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"

Northern Conservative†Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.

Here’s the next oppositional-defiant disorder as state government marker to watch.
Screenshot from the linked article, starts mid-sentence:

“…changing clocks that has been observed across most of the United States since the 1960s.
The 308-117 vote sends the bill to the Senate. If enacted, clocks would no longer return to standard time in November, though states could opt out of year-round daylight saving time.”
The phrase “though states could opt out of year-round daylight saving time” is highlighted, by me.

This bit is positively glowing with Putin particles.
10. The psychologization of modern politics is leading us astray. Those who look to the political arena to nourish their soul and sense of self, who rely too heavily on their internal life finding expression in people they may never meet, will be left disappointed

When my kid was in 3rd grade a classmate wrote to the school district to say they should offer more non-dairy milk options and as a reward the whole class got a field trip to the NYC DOE Office of Food & Nutrition Services where they were fed previews from the next year’s menu until they felt sick.

Active in Left-wing causes, in 1972 he was recruited by exiled ANC members to join a secret network nicknamed the London Recruits. Harrison and his wife, the writer Mary Chamberlain, arrived in Cape Town in the guise of migrants in search of a new life; in fact their aim was to distribute subversive literature, secreted inside false bottoms in their luggage.

Aware that the mission was dangerous - they were warned, Mary Chamberlain recalled, that "inciting resistance by force would carry a hefty sentence, preceded undoubtedly by torture" - they spent several months in Cape Town, travelling all over the city in order to purchase some 7,000 stamps, in small batches to avoid suspicion.

They then posted the 7,000 books they had smuggled - Harrison driving around Cape Town, his wife dashing out of the car to place the parcels in postboxes a few at a time - to selected addresses. By the time they returned to Britain they had done much to demonstrate to journalists and other professionals that the ANC, despite its leaders having been imprisoned or driven abroad, was still a going concern.
