This classification of scales came out of my study of the Classical music of India. It's intended to present these scales to Western musicians of all stripes. Classical Indian music is mostly monophonic, staying with one scale in one key (determined by the main vocalist or instrumentalist).

Based on the South Indian melakarta system of 72 melas/ scales/modes.

I bought David Bowie s Black Star when it first came out, but the CD kept skipping and I put it away with a ton of other CDs that have already been ripped. Anyway, I searched it out and put it on my old laptop (Win 7 to Win 10 to SUSE to Deb 10 to Deb 11). It ripped fine. Music analysis to come.

Just read Goliath's Curse, by Luke Kemp. It confirmed a lot of my suppositions (suspicions, superstitions) about the untold part of history. Kemp uses paleontology, archaeology, and written history to construct a cohesive explanation of the rise and fall of empires. I'm convinced.

I got to thinking about differing viewpoints. For instance, scientists just want to have the whole picture, no matter how long it takes. Engineers just want their stuff to work, ASAP. This leads, possibly inevitably, to enormous conflicts about such subjects as global warming.
