An unearthly gorgeous performance here. I went to the funeral of a Thai composer in Bangkok last week. 100 of the composer’s students (!) played the Thai khim along with a recording of their teacher playing over the PA. The overtones were nuts. Video actually caught the sound pretty good.

Yeah, you could pretty much chop and change any of these early tracks, the weird lack of intent behind their recording is fascinating to me - a studio here, a demo there - lost and found bits. It sounds so together on the vinyl edition.

It’s had the life rendered out of it now. David Herbert (who worked with PA) captured its chaotic glory just after her death. Most of these bits were taken by a friend and sold at Brighton train station car boot.
