Lewis is compelling in his desperation to impose his project and establish a hierarchy in which the artist is at the apex, above even the 'action-man tragic heroes' that move history along, for Lewis the artist should be a ruthless cultural mediator. Tempting... www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...
