The U.S. administration did not send a single representative to the official commemoration events marking the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, nor did it issue a single word through its embassy in Kyiv -- not even a standard diplomatic boilerplate.

This, tragically, is the right away to report on Trump’s moves on Monday which were supposed to be great for Ukraine. Russia now has 50 days impunity to hammer Ukrainian civilians. And there is no guarantee Trump will do anything after that as well.

Ukraine carries to grave the victims of russia’s Palm Sunday “mistake”. Father, mother and son. The family was on their way to church. They put a soccer ball into the son’s casket. The boy loved soccer. #StandWithUkraine #Sumy

7/7. This has not been a peace process. It has not even been appeasement. It has been the US throwing its power on Russia’s side in a war of aggression.

I had the privilege to pay my respects at this Dnipro war cemetery yesterday. Cemeteries like this all over Ukraine contain the remains of those who have courageously defended Ukraine against Russia since 2014, and represent endless acres of heartbreak for the people of #Ukraine.

It is kind of ironic that Trump wants Canada as his 51st state, but all of his efforts appear to be turning America into Russia’s 47th oblast.

After we let Russia occupy part of your country and steal your resources, we will occupy the other part and do the same. Quite the starting point for the Americans.

Apropos of nothing, I'm thinking about several things, one of which I just learned bout. The first is "Chesterton's Fence": an early 20th Century author who used a parable of a fence to posit why we should not destroy what we do not understand. 1/n www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPGb...

An interesting thought. Perhaps the conformism or indulgency to one’s desires are the root of this. “Stupidity is not an intellectual defect but a moral one. There are human beings who are remarkably agile intellectually yet stupid, and others who are intellectually dull yet anything but stupid.”

I'm pretty sure that Putin is well aware of his shortcomings. He expected this war to be a short affair, and if had his way and Ukraine would have collapsed, there would have been some reason to give him credit. But facts and reality are stubborn things, and they show his monumental miscalculation.

Here is the Issue for Putin: Putin invaded Ukraine for 2 reasons. 1: as punishment for rebelling against him, to send a signal to everyone else that he is the leader and cannot be questioned 2: To keep the west out of Ukraine at all costs

5/ If Western politicians fail to do so, they will be squandering the sacrifices of those who fought and sacrificed to win WW2 and the Cold War. The cost of deterring countries like Russia and China will be very large. But the cost of not doing so will be exponentially bigger for all of us.

With Gazprom decaying and being virtually bankrupt as well as the prospect of another huge competitor emerging on the European market, Russia is reeling into the next economic catastrophe. A wise Russian leadership would instantly stop all military activities and open up negotiations. (15/22)

Others believe it is necessary to help Poland but only in ways that do not harm their electoral ratings. Voters might not understand why it is in their interest to help stop Hitler in Poland now, instead of dying under bombs in Rotterdam...
