"The technology is just gonna get better and better and better and better. And it's gonna get easier and easier, and more and more convenient, and more and more pleasurable, to be alone with images on a screen, given to us by people who do not love us but want our money." -David Foster Wallace

Inject this thread into the vein. All this goes so far beyond just creatives. Outsourcing our brains; giving up on exercising our mental, emotional, creative, empathetic, etc. muscles across societal roles will result in a dumber, colder, more careless, easily bored world at the worst possible time.

I was beyond obsessed The Gate to the Mind's Eye as a teen in the 90s. Completely wore my VHS copy out. Glad to find the masterpiece on YT. Directed by Michael Boydstun, and @thomasdolby.bsky.social crushed the soundtrack. Was so far ahead of its time. youtu.be/gV9IMGAJ-Eo

Enjoying some live Bowie late tonight. Glasto has incredible sound, & he was on despite laryngitis. When cancer took him from us in January 2016, feels like the world bumped off its axis and things haven’t ever been the same since. Everything got and stayed so dark. music.apple.com/us/album/gla...

Rest easy, Mr. Abrahams, and thanks (alongside the Zs) for all the laughs I shared with Dad while we watched and quoted your movies together, which we did countless times and still do to this day! www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

If you happen to need some inspiration regarding that dream you’ve been chasing (or thinking of chasing), or are otherwise looking for a sign that you shouldn’t give up on that passion of yours, here you go:

Discovered #OneSong today and I’ve found my people! I often go on these geeky musical exposes in the car with my wife and kids. They feign interest but it just drives them crazy. Now I can let @luxxury.bsky.social and Diallo take all the heat (while being highly entertaining and informative!).

Novembers for me are usually spent jonesing for a very few specific "Best Albums of the Year" lists and this list right here. Can't wait to dive in, thoughts and prayers to my backlog (the poor thing gave up all hope decades ago).

Among the hallmarks of terrible software companies: completely ignoring what your users want until you're threatened by competition (usually too late to matter), ESPECIALLY when what they're asking for used to be table stakes for any product/service in your industry. I can't believe ... 1/2

The house is quiet and I’m up late getting creeped out by @chuckwendig.bsky.social yet again. Come to think of it, those apples over in the fridge have been in there a while, probably best to just toss ‘em in the morning. Yep, that’s the move.
