As much as I complain about my current ACA plan, AT LEAST IT EXISTS. I was born with a heart defect, and while it’s been long fixed with surgery, it was considered a pre-existing condition by insurers. Before Obamacare, getting coverage was a ridiculous slog. And that was when I was much younger.

I would like one of these people to experience a low-end health plan, the kind with sky-high deductibles and co-pays…the kind that only makes sense after a catastrophe. Many people don’t use their health care unless it’s absolutely necessary. It’s just too expensive and too much of a hassle.

This is perhaps the worst health care I’ve ever had, despite it being a “Silver” plan. Getting an MRI approved is like solving a troll’s riddle. I had to give up my specialists because they don’t accept this company’s ACA plans (but they DO accept the same company’s employer plans)

Since being laid off in late 2024, I’ve gotten to the final round of 7 interviews, and was passed over in all of them. It’s hard not to think that age was a factor. I’m freelancing to keep the lights on, but the amount I have to pay for a mid ACA health plan is shocking. $1200/mo for Silver PPO.
