metame メタミ @metameeee.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

ya that one has been a temptation for awhile. Hard to choose between that and zsa voyager for the sake of portability (i currently bring my ergodox everywhere, even cafes, etc.)

as silly as it may seem to spend $375 on a keyboard, my zsa ergodox ez is still going strong with heavy daily usage for 10 years. It’s the only keeb I’ve bought in 10 years while I’ve gone through many more computers, headphones, everything else

I have a personal fondness for papers/posts which present two very distinct and opposing designs as just two extremes of some spectrum of design trade-offs. LSMs vs B-Trees is a space in which I've seen a few rather different pitches of what that design spectrum could look like

This week I edited some sql queries, ran them in a cli db client, added a new feature to a cli tool, and read and wrote a lot of things. Surprisingly, I was able to do this without the use of LLMs

This is probably the first time in my career that I almost want to post about work and publicize my employer... But I'm sure I'll get over it eventually and return to my well practiced dead inside persona

Don't worry, their knowledge is going to skyrocket now that the majority of them didn't even write the code anymore

this is still mostly accurate, just replace the determinate installer with lix installer, and darwin-rebuild has to be run with sudo now

well I lasted about an hour before installing lix on my new work macbook

In most languages, you hunt allocations down with a profiler and they creep back the moment you touch the hot path. Jane Street's superset of OCaml lets you flip that around: annotate a function with [@zero_alloc] and the compiler refuses to build if anything in its call tree touches the heap.

sadly I just had too many issues with zen browser... were they firefox issues or google purposefully making their sites suck on firefox? not sure... but as much as it pains me to say it, chromium is still the most reliable experience I've had...
