The interview I had with @tylerkline.bsky.social for his music/Maker podcast was by far the most in depth that anyone has ever asked about my personal and professional life. He's doing great and important work for the new music community, and he's a great guy to boot. I can't thank him enough

Composers and new-music folks! I host a nationally-distributed contemporary classical radio show, and for this December I’m looking for music about: - snow, ice, cold - stillness, stars, night - holiday-adjacent - renewal Bonus points if it’s a commercial release, but not a requirement!

After about five years, it’s time for new headshots. As always, it’s nice to be married to an über talented photographer (Susanna Hancock, who is Bluesky-less). Extra thankful for her patience wielding my Minolta X700. Shot on #cinestill400d with some lite touchups. #35mm

I’m feeling excited about some directions my current project is heading in, so I’m going to share some sneak peeks of the score. This is still very much a work in progress… and has been for like 3 years, but things are feeling close.

From last month in State College, PA - shot on #KodakColorPlus w/ #Minoltax700 The guy saw me with my camera and told me, “hold on a second and I’ll get you the money shot.” He certainly did. #35mm #filmphotography #analogphotography

gawddang it’s so easy to make my music look good in Dorico, why didn’t I switch sooner?? very much still climbing that mountain (cleaning up the score), but I have surprised and delighted myself that I had no idea how to use this software 4 days ago and now I have like 20 pages of an actual piece

110

tyler kline @tylerkline.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

cracked the code today, and this 17.5 minute behemoth for solo piano might very well be finished 🙏 finally, everything sounds (and *feels*) “right” It’s not completely done though until I re-engrave everything in Dorico (which I have never used before) 🫠

I’ve been working on a particular composition for 3 years now (off and on), and I finally have the feeling it’s almost finished. Such a strange combination of relief, a little frustration, disappointment, and excitement as I put the finishing touches on it.
