Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I've been busy crafting. Cut and finished a piece of wood to make a stamp backing. Made and painted some mini clay skateboard charms ready for a resin coating in the week. 043
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Landscape and/or play space is actually a big part of how I work. Without it, I find it tricky to design puzzles because I like to let the space guide me with where the player can reach and what elements they can interact with at a given time. 030
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I've realized my multi-stage puzzle design process is: understand what mechanics I need here, and what mechanics I could have. Mush together a first-pass landscape that facilitates play. Figure out how one stage unlocks the next one. Place puzzle elements, test, adjust. Repeat until solid. 140
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I haven't found a specific font helps, as long as it's clear it's fine. I use a yellow/orange filter on my screen already so I never need that to be built in and have found that it helps my eyes stop jumping around so much with text. Happy to answer any questions you may have 😄 120
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Also the ability to skip text but then also go back to that text box is so helpful. I may read a sentence thinking I understand it, then realise I didn't but I've already pressed the button to move on. Comics/visual novels are great for this because I can look back at the box or re-read the page. 121
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Ideally I would enjoy a story that is broken into small digestible chunks with great spatial and visual context to backup what is going on, and give me a little reading break. Useful words highlighted with colour coding helps. And somewhere with a bullet-point recap to remind me what is going on. 220
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Sadly I avoid text-heavy games because it's exhausting to have to read everything. This is because dyslexia affects working memory, I spend all my energy reading the sentence and get to the end forgetting what it was actually about. 120
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I can't wait to be in a position where I can work together with all the cool people I know who are awesome at their jobs and we all get to make awesome games together. 050
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 20/09/2026On a side-note, an indie team all being paid the same salary, just wanting to make a cool thing, and trusting each other to make decisions because they are awesome, skilled, and aligned so well on project outcome, is absolutely the BEST team experience EVER. 0100
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I learnt the hard way to ask Game Directors how they take on responsibility for making decisions. Don't waste my time waiting for you to make up your mind, or tell me to decide for you when your salary is 6x mine. Set a direction, and take responsibility if the outcome is bad. 1317

Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I've had to turn down jobs from concerns over crunch culture, and how that would not accommodate any of my needs as a disabled person. It's disgustingly ableist that a studio would say no to anyone who was "anti-crunch". 080
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Something that deeply bothers me about crunch culture is how ableist it is. It assumes a person is perfectly healthy and able to tank a 12 hour day, 7 day a week work schedule. It forgets that rest and recovery exists. 4130
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 16/09/2026The only solution is to put your entire foot in the freezer and only take it out 24hours before the marathon to defrost. 110
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Sometimes an obsession or 'hyperfocus' can be a real killer if you spend too long on it. I've had to learn to give my focus a timeline or everything else falls by the wayside. 030
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 11/09/2026The first cable-to-cable was a usb-c to usb-a with a converter dongle that would swap the other end to what you needed it to be. In our phone shop we ended up with so many of these dongles that you could stack them, and we used to see how many we could stack before the connection wouldn't work. 110
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 11/09/2026This was possible before 2018 on some phone models, but I do remember when it was introduced. I worked in a phone shop and regularly transferred phone data from old to new phones, which sometimes used to take HOURS over bluetooth. First cable transfer I did took seconds, I was so happy. 220
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 11/09/2026No closure means a continuous stream of questioning. Why me? Am I bad at my job? Do people not like me? Why is the company still doing expensive things? Why are they re-hiring my role? Was I not good enough? This behavior burns bridges. These people will never want to work with you again. 040
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Compassion and full transparency to staff during redundancy is the only way I will ever maintain respect for a company during layoffs. Making someone redundant and using unexplained corporate speak like 'business pivot' leaves people questioning the integrity of your decision, with no closure. 160
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Sad to hear this 💔. Respect for handling it in a transparent way. 010

Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I started watching boruto, loved it, caught up with all the current episodes at the time and so started reading the manga. And wow there is some good stuff in the manga 👀 110
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I find incremental mechanics more interesting when they are mixed with something else. I've played a bunch of these incremental games and loved the first playthrough but bored by the 3rd one. When the incremental mechanics are tied in with a meaty core mechanic like deck building, I tend to return. 011

Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 14/08/2026I often wonder what some people would make if they weren't bound by time/money or publisher demands. 260
Megan M @memopotato.bsky.social · 14/08/2026This really sucks. Your work was super impactful while working with Netflix because it actually made leads know that accessibility was important, which made my job easier as I spent less time debating accessibility features and more time pointing at "because Netflix said we have to". 010
