Trapsters go vinyl with a discussion of the latest abridged Davison audios.👍🏿 Memories of their first watches, story reputations, thoughts on the abridgements and Peter Davison’s delivery. Another diverse delight of opinions.👏🏿 And those album covers, always stylish. Definitely collectible. ❤️❤️➕🟦💿 🚶🏿‍♂️🎧📻

also very true. allies are allies because they show up, participate in dialogue, welcome new voices, and foster inclusive spaces. it sucks when it's exhausting just to like something, but it's easier than ever to spot when a person or space is going to be not worth the effort.

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 12h

yep, 100% the same for me. i lament it out loud every once in a while. i left twitter because of it and like you, avoid a lot of facebook fan areas. even here, it's hard not to hear the dog whistles when folks start in on "bad writing."

000

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 12h

what i really don't understand is why people feel it necessary to defend ignorance and intolerance as though it were righteous. that sort of "both sides" mentality is exactly why we live in this dystopian fascist hellscape. the block button is very easy to use in cases like that. it's sad, though.

010

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 13h

i can also see thematically what i saw in the original poster's original post, which is exactly what i posted about. if you continue to defend it, or point a finger at me, i will just block you. i am not here to argue about how people express their ignorance. thanks in advance for understanding

100

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 13h

i didn't say or infer anything about the original poster except that their style of dismissive comment is lazy and ignorant

100

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 13h

you're not in the same bracket because you've never felt the need to make your dislike of it the basis of every post or wear it like some kind of badge of honor to prove... i don't honestly know what is they are trying to prove or what the relentless foaming gets them

040

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 14h

indeed. also i totally understand; my voice to text robot is in open revolt against me at all times. i used to have a cd-rom program - dragon: naturally speaking - back in like 2004 that learned how i pronounce things more efficiently and permanently in weeks than my google phone has in years

020

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 14h

glad to see this came out in last week's indy. i get you want to have this out as close as possible to the election, but i wish there were more discourse about things beyond individual political races, and that it was easier to find, further ahead of elections

010

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 14h

appreciate this; i don't have apple products, though. is there an android version?

100

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 14h

it's all good; i figured that's what you meant!

110

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 14h

and anyone who feels the need to defend saying the rtd2 era was, in fact, fundamentally bad, and that the stories were bad, just getting automatically blocked. not here to argue with ignorant people about the foundations of their ignorance

050

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 14h

the biases, whatever motivates them, is purely subjective. i think you meant "objectively," which is what i have problems with. there's this notion that the episodes and stories were clearly and undeniably "bad," which just defies all logic and sense

110

Melvin Peña @melvinpena.bsky.social · 15h

this is fundamentally false and i don't understand why it has such currency among doctor who fans. it shows a kind of basic ignorance of narrative, as well as the lingering stank of homophobia, right-wing bias, intolerance, close-mindedness, and fan entitlement that has seeped into every fandom

anything they are against has to be good. my ballot only has schools and community colleges on it, probably because i'm not in the city, same reason i was going to have to pay extra to go to the municipal pools
