I would add: even if it means finishing badly. Many skills are slow to come; the gap between what you envisioned at the start and the actual thing can be vast. I made lumpy early sweaters and am still making splotchy natural dyed stuff. I finished them and they are a tactile timeline of practice.

I know BWI won an award but the bathrooms in Taipei... Pristine. Full doors. Multi function Toto toilets. Different sink heights for kids and folks with mobility issues.

Two men laughing over assaulting his wife for not "training" to protect herself in case he isn't around. They are revelling that only under the protection of a man can you be safe, it entirely up to them to define the boundaries of that safety, and said boundaries are, at best, illusory.

In addition to reasons listed by @bikemore.net, cuts to MTA hurt young people and families. Some 30,000 young people rely on MTA to reach school in Baltimore. When they're absent or late, or transfer because of unreliability that hurts them and their classmates. www.mdotctp.com

Dear Jacob, I would sooner work for United than reply to a company that uses AI to interview experts for free, after which you maybe, possibly get matched to a client. AI and your predatory venture capital company should stay as far away from complex behavioral health care as possible.

Me in Baltimore City. Our system is marked by nothing so much as wild variability. Having to become Hells on Wheels(tm) at every IEP meeting was the only way to ensure my kid got what they needed. My kid started college and I have folks emailing and finding me on Instagram to ask for help.

This. More commercial use in residential neighborhoods. Motzi is great. RIP the Schnapp Shop and the Italian deli that was supposed to open in it's place. There was a small market on 27th but some neighbors including the spouse of a Councilperson were annoyed by its signage (deep sigh).

Let's improve transit so we can have faster and more efficient transportation to the Hunger Games. In all seriousness, yes better MTA would help. But again, still: why are we making kids leave their neighborhoods for excellent education? www.thebanner.com/education/k-...

Want less segregated Baltimore schools? Fix housing and transportation first.
The Baltimore region has some of the most segregated schools in the nation.

It is the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Here's what I know: evil men who justified the torture and murder of millions now hold an endowed chair at Berkeley and senior status on the 9th Circuit. The latter was supported by the current Senate Minority Leader who deemed the 9th too liberal.

"Teen takeovers" happen in Baltimore with kids acting like assholes because their brains are still baking. But some of it is because we've banned them from most public spaces. No mall, no movies, heck our grocery store won't let them in past 6. It is still hot and pools are closed for the season.

Friday morning, I was gardening when I checked my phone. A request had gone out for help. For 25+ hours, ICE had been laying siege to a quiet neighborhood in Frederick, MD. Community members were afraid, some didn’t want to leave their homes. ICE vehicles seemed to be lurking on every corner.
ICE vehicle - black Nissan Maxima with plate cover - posted up in a spot that also serves as an elementary school bus stop. Another ICE vehicle, black Dodge Durango, lurking around the community. Two more ICE vehicles - black Dodge Durango and a white SUV, unclear on make, model - on a quiet residential street, being quietly creepy. Note that the white SUV has its plate covered. Yet another ICE vehicle. Black Nissan Pathfinder. They were all over the neighborhood.

Nearly one third of Baltimore City Schools 9th graders were retained in the 24-25 school year. That's nearly one in every three kids. It is over 1600 young people -- about the size of the entire population of Poly HS. go.boarddocs.com/mabe/bcpss/B...

Baltimore specific pet peeve: people loading your recycling bin with garbage on collection day because it isn't full or after DPW pickup before you can retrieve the empty can. Either way, gross, and irritating as hell.

Moore is very big on AI. Results for America was "helping" by looking at state government but in way that was (1) not helpful (2) created more work for state employees (3) often incorrect because they used AI to synthesize information. Instead of this, maybe, I dunno, fix aging state systems?
