Here we show that transmitting the Microbiome can transfer a host trait, independently of selection on the host genome. In mice, with selection for low activity levels. Correlates with levels of lactobacilli and indolelactate: transferring these alone also reduces activity.

Excited to share our study led by @SakenovaNazgul! We used chemical genetics to identify and understand cross-resistance & collateral-sensitivity (CS) between antibiotics and reduced AMR development with CS drug pairs @embl.org with @camille_goemans @EPFL_en www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Systematic mapping of antibiotic cross-resistance and collateral sensitivity with chemical genetics - Nature Microbiology
Resistance to one antibiotic can make bacteria resistant or sensitive to another antibiotic, opening paths for combinatorial treatments. This study presents an approach to systematically discover and ...

This is a nice longitudinal metagenomic analysis of CRISPR dynamics in the gut with a lot of cool findings, including showing clearance of MGEs after spacer acquisition: Dynamics of CRISPR-mediated virus-host interactions in the human gut microbiome www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Relative abundance data can misrepresent heritability of the microbiome - Microbiome
Background Host genetics can shape microbiome composition, but to what extent it does, remains unclear. Like any other complex trait, this important question can be addressed by estimating the heritab...
