Distinct structural features of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATP synthase revealed by cryo-electron microscopy - Nature Communications
ATP synthase powers cells by converting proton translocation into energy. Here, authors reveal distinct structural features of the P. aeruginosa ATP synthase that regulate activity and may serve as ta...

How do proteins know where to go? Some sense membrane curvature. Many follow other proteins. But what defines the first localization cue? In our bioRxiv preprint we tackle this question using a sporulation protein ShfA in Bacillus subtilis.

Happy to share a new publication on Mechanistic Coupling of Enzyme Activities at the Replisome in JBC. We #Traklab compare and contrast strategies used across organisms to coordinate the many enzymatic processes that occur during DNA replication. Hope it is helpful. doi.org/10.1016/j.jb...

PcdA promotes orthogonal division plane selection in Staphylococcus aureus
Nature Microbiology - PcdA interacts with DivIVA and FtsZ, promoting Z-ring formation and division plane selection in Staphylococcus aureus, which increases virulence in mice and reduces...

Excited to share this new preprint from the lab, where postdoc Pavan Silva @kptsilva.bsky.social found pathways that control gene amplifications, and thus antibiotic resistance, in Staph aureus! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Genetic determinants of gene amplifications alter frequency and evolutionary trajectory of antibiotic resistance in Staphylococcus aureus
Gene amplifications are thought to be common in bacterial populations, providing a rapid reversible mode of adaptation to diverse stresses, including the acquisition of antibiotic resistance. We previ...
