That messaging is not going to change anyone's mind. My mother was a vaccine sceptic so I wasn't vaccinated until I was an adult and could decide for myself. She was afraid and believed anti-vax propaganda. She truly loved me and thought she was doing the right thing.

There is a fire in the #Cairngorms today. Fire service was alerted at 11:50. We were at the RSPB centre at Loch Garten and saw the fire engines going past. My picture showing the smoke at 13:21 is looking south across the loch. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I had the pipe version for normal side opening windows and figured the hot air would rise up and dissipate into general air outside quickly, and not be particularly likely to go directly into another flat.

I had one of the tube out of the window ACs in my flat in London but also got a fabric zip thing designed for this purpose that covers the entire window opening, attached via velcro, except for the bit the pipe goes through. So, easy to install and remove during winter.

There are four massive #bees stuck in my conservatory right now because they are too stupid to go out of the massive open windows or door they came in through. I catch and release those I can but they often stay too high up. Multiple bees are dying in here every single day. Stupid bees!

Those aren't new jobs though. There have always been small business owners, executives, cleaners and freelancers. I believe that's why Marx came up with the petty bourgeoisie category for people who align with the ruling class, it was to describe small business owners. You're right it depends though

I think the concept of exploiting others through employment Vs being exploited is still very relevant. Even if your income is big but you work for someone else, you could be sacked and then have zero income. I agree income is relevant though. Maybe petty bourgeoisie fits the roles you describe.

My grandma was a dinner lady! On presumptions, it goes either way for me. At uni a housemate called me "common" as a factual description not an intended insult, mostly because I was northern. Professionally people often assume everyone in the room is middle class and position WC people as 'other'.

If the builder isn't getting enough rental income to live on and so has to also work as a builder then they are still working class, but probably a bit of a mixture, I think it's a scale not binary. A footballer is potentially working class if they don't invest their wealth into shares/property etc.

I think that if your family didn't have unearned income e.g. from owning the means of production or property, then you're working class. That's what I go by and I think it is the Marxist definition of class.

Story A) My great grandad on one side and my grandad on the other were both effectively destitute and sent to the workhouse, one from age 14. When my parents married, they had -£4 total wealth. Story B) My parents were teachers and I grew up in a Cheshire village in a nice 4 bed Victorian semi.
