Also worth noting that Athenian “democracy” limited political rights to roughly 40,000 “citizen” men, out of a population of ca. 400,000-600,000, excluding women, slaves, and anyone whose families had not been Athenian for generations.

If you're in these states, *TODAY* is deadline to register to vote. Arizona, Arkansas Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas. Even if you think you've registered: doesn't hurt to check! And there's a lot happening across them. A thread with stakes on each. ⬇️

This may seem a quirky & obscure interest on the part of the VP. But it's worrisome. Historically, those awaiting antichrist expect, even look forward to, a "sorting" of the saved & the damned, assuming they themselves are the saved & all "others" (often Jews) are damned. forward.com/culture/8486...

Public university students in Texas will learn less about cool historical topics (Joan of Arc! the Vikings!), and are losing a fine history professor, b/c of political interference in higher ed. (The use of A.I. to impose politically-motivated censorship is an added insult to the original injury.)

For folks asking why bother commenting because the OMB won't care: comments help build cases for the courts by explicitly laying out harms. That's why it's really important to have your comments be as specific as possible. Also, contact your senators and reps! They actually do care about this.

Im so exhausted by this pattern. Historians spend years in the archives to write detailed accounts of the past. Only for journalists, doctors, podcasters, and now cartoonists, to swoop in and get paid a lot of money to trot out the same work, "uncovering hidden histories" that are not at all hidden.
