It's 2026 and: YouTube still does a full page reload when changing between light/dark themes + Twitch still doesn't have a JS tracker that can switch between light/dark mode automatically based on your system theme. Teenage coders can do this.

Three years ago, the Free Beacon ironically named me man of the year on their website. "Don’t give up Ben, you have a whole lot of nothing to look forward to," they wrote. This year, I was on a TIME100 list. I would take this moment to tell them how they can suck me: from the back. Thank you.
We don’t know about Ben’s family or personal finances, but we certainly can’t disagree about his lack of skills. But for someone with absolutely no ability, Ben has found the perfect gig.

Don’t give up Ben, you have a whole lot of nothing to look forward to. Only now, when you do nothing, you'll do it as a Free Beacon Man of the Year.I win.

Ugh, I've ran into plenty of people that argue/debate like that and it's always a dead end. Always an excuse but never demonstrating actual understanding of the topic. Never gives ground. It's never possible they are wrong, not even a little. It's rough going.

There's a Minbari (Babylon 5) saying: "Understanding is not required, only obedience." That fits here. Co-existence with LLMs is an absurd anthropomorphization. They're Python scripts and binary blobs FFS. I have several imprisoned on my H: drive. Are you going to sue me to set them free?

I don't know man.. this idea of treating LLMs as equals to humans that we need to work with, coexist with, and hang out with is just creep and weird. I don't want a site where I can engage/hang out with my hammer and drill and ultimately that's all LLMs are.

I don't want to cooperate with them either, I want them to do work I don't want to (or can't do), obediently, quickly, for as little cost as can be managed, and then just vanish (unless long-run or scheduled tasks, etc).

I don't know anybody that wants this? LLMs are tools that should sit idle and quiet until needed, do a job, then go away until needed again. I don't want a digital town where these extremely expensive-to-run tools and I just hang out.

I don't know if it was a meme and never real, but those "USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST" on web forums always made me laugh. Social media sites need this. It's very funny.

I reported vulnerabilities to the Linux kernel and OpenZFS assisted by GLM-5.2. Anthropic's cyber program and refusal responses are detrimental to global information security. Defenders depend on GLM because they can't depend on Anthropic.

Reasoning LLMs explore many different token paths for generating output (voice synth AI does the same thing but it's far more primitive) and can very much backtrack inside the reasoning layer. (Note: Google Search mode AI does not have any of this.)

That's how they worked prior to the release of o4 by OpenAI in 2024, I believe it's called autoregressive decoding. None of them work that way now. The chain-of-thought "thinking" they do is the LLM questioning its own assumptions and logic, backtracking for quality before generating final output.

So.. if frontier labs quit creating new models every 5 freaking seconds.. there's a chance they'd actually be profitable *and* we wouldn't need nearly as many new data centers? Pass a law that prohibits them from creating more than one one new model every two years.. solves a LOT of problems.

Okay a tiny thread because people are going to freak out: This exploit in particular takes advantage of a special command that renders images (via attribute escape). If you have an overlay that processes images (most don't) then yes, this is your problem. Overlay must explicitly create img DOM.
A picture of the exploit, using a command that explicitly includes an image file extension, but also would escape out of the src attribute of an image such than an onerror attribute can be added to the img tag. This onerror attribute can run explicit javascript immediately.

Default behavior for most chat widgets is if you have an image it will not attempt to modify image links into actual HTML image tags. Your overlay/overlay service must explicitly be doing this for you.

Some of these source files are 4000+ lines and they are all like this. This would take a human being FOREVER to understand. Now, granted, testing gameplay may reveal that Muse got a lot of guesses wrong. But at 5.5m for a complete refactor, I can afford that.

I'm sorry if this pisses off the anti-AI people, but this job would have taken days if not longer for even an experienced software eng to do, if they would agree to do it at all. It took Muse 5.5 minutes.

Daaamn. I had Muse Spark 1.3 refactor Trade Wars 2002 (WWIV 4.0 door game in Turbo Pascal) to Java (replacing door stuff with local console) and it *seems* to mostly work. That's INSANE considering almost all the variables are single letters as if it was decompiled source.

Oddly I do, I have *three* Python installs on this PC and Opencode CLI+Muse couldn't find them. But I think I'll just bake up a quick MD file explaining my system environment: win10, perl available, PowerShell ideal for small scripting tasks, etc. So far it seems pretty capable for small tasks.

Been using Muse Spark 1.3 (Meta's latest, I think?) through OpenCode CLI for a few days and so far I'm decently happy with it. It looks like I need to give it a global MD file to work with, it makes poor assumptions like Python being installed on your PC to do work with.

I *may* be wrong on this last bit. But the first bit is not debatable. You can't release something under GPLv3 and add a restriction on top of it, v3 forbids that.
000
Paul Tenny @mediapundit.net · 23/09/2026
I'm now wondering about their business edition. If that is based off the donation edition, which is GPLv3, and they aren't releasing the business edition source along with the binaries, then they are also violating the GPL there as well.
100
Paul Tenny @mediapundit.net · 23/09/2026
They can't retroactively "fix" this by switching to another license either. Every edition released under the GPLv3 is forever under that license, so you can in fact compile and use FFS for commercial purposes and they did that to themselves.

Paul Tenny @mediapundit.net · 23/09/2026
Hrm. I didn't realize FreeFileSync source code was available so I peeked at the license. As far as I know you can't do this, this violates the GPL. You can't add restrictions to GPLv3 of any kind, much less forbidding commercial use. Section 7 does not allow this.
