I like Futurism but its AI derangement syndrome is getting old. And I'd point out that AI would never fuck up a post like this person shitting on AI did.

Annnnd it looks like I'm uninstalling the Gemini desktop app they literally just released. Way to kill your own stuff.

Some of these source files are 4000+ lines and they are all like this. This would take a human being FOREVER to understand. Now, granted, testing gameplay may reveal that Muse got a lot of guesses wrong. But at 5.5m for a complete refactor, I can afford that.

Daaamn. I had Muse Spark 1.3 refactor Trade Wars 2002 (WWIV 4.0 door game in Turbo Pascal) to Java (replacing door stuff with local console) and it *seems* to mostly work. That's INSANE considering almost all the variables are single letters as if it was decompiled source.

Gemini 3.1 pro is broken tonight. No matter what I do it won't stop mixing Latex formatting into Perl. This is not valid Perl.

Hrm. I didn't realize FreeFileSync source code was available so I peeked at the license. As far as I know you can't do this, this violates the GPL. You can't add restrictions to GPLv3 of any kind, much less forbidding commercial use. Section 7 does not allow this.

Anyway making a local language translator for Twitch chat (yes I know there are bots for that already). This is just a test of the translation inference. Already have a CPU analyzer to decide if a msg is English or not, this part translates text on my GPU. No cloud calls.

I told it I was having linker errors and asked it to suggest a fix (along with providing the error log). Mental note: also ask it to explain the problem because apparently it won't unless you ask (bad, Sonnet and Gemini would have.)

May 1st 2025 I asked Gemini to list all MCU films sorted by theatrical release date (it did), then to create a timeline made up of posters. Even 18 months ago it could not do text. I tried again today and.. the more powerful LLMs become the more worthless they are.

This is what I'm thinking about when I say way too many people formed negative opinions of LLMs in the era before thinking/reasoning models but refuse to update their views. This lecture was about 11 months before the release of o1, OpenAI's first reasoning model that changed EVERYTHING.

I decided to play with OpenCode's CLI env since Google basically destroyed gemini-cli. Cool so far, had it do some git stuff for me since I can never remember the commands for this crap. Sad none of the other test models are available. I wonder why?

It's obvious when somebody formed 100% of their opinion about LLMs 4+ years ago and haven't used or read about them since. This fits for ChatGPT 0.1. Today it's woefully ignorant and embarrassing.

People I follow have access to the best frontier models in the world, some special early access. I'm out here slummin with a model called "Big Pickle" down in the AI trenches. 😎

I heartily agree with "fuck that guy" (Erickson is trash) but this sentiment is just weird. Would you hate on somebody for sending a draft to an English teacher? A professional writer friend? Ya'll I got news for you: this is no different.

Image 1: Gemini Image 2: ChatGPT Image 3: Forge (Stable Diffusion) [Cyberrealisticpony 1.8] I can't show you the second Forge render because there's a giant penis in it for some reason. Much as I like Gemini's, ChatGPT got that disgusting dark mood. ChatGPT wins.

Yeah look at this. It's just beach erosion where they built a road because this entire house sits on top of it. What an insanely dumb place to build a house.

I had it clone the look-and-feel of the typing trainer I had it make last night. Now we're cooking. LLMs are so freaking nice for grunt work. Yeah I could have made this, but it would have taken me an hour. This took 2-3 minutes.

Paul Tenny @mediapundit.net · 06/09/2026
Oh no.. no no no. Everything I've ever had Claude make has been beautiful and professional but this is just UGLY. This is the kind of design I'd have expected from Gemini or even a local baby LLM.

I've slowly reverted to 2-3 finger typing on my right hand so it's time to retrain. I'm sure there's a bazillion free trainers online but I want one I can modify/have modified at-will. Thus tonight's LLM project from Claude Sonnet. It came with a builder script that can take public domain book...

There were people who thought they could ignore electrification, industrialization, cars and the Internet. Humanity chose correctly to ignore *them*. All major advancements by our species will come with a price, but that price will never be as great as embracing fear, ignorance and regression.

The extent to which people don't understand there are US state and foreign country laws that *require* this is really disheartening. It's not like companies are doing this for fun.

I realized that Community Notes/Birdwatch on Twitter was a failure the instant I joined it because these programs don't control who can join and make notes, resulting in most notes just being garden variety replies. It's like this everywhere that has these programs. All garbage.

I am by no means a free speech absolutist but I find censorship more offensive than gross people celebrating murder. You draw the line here, somebody else draws it someplace else, on and on until nobody can say anything except those who draw the lines. The masses get silenced.

No this is wrong. The industry learned more than a year ago that once models grow beyond ~500B params, they stop getting "smarter". That's whey the created "thinking/reasoning" modes, multi-agent orchestration, and Mixture-of-Expert modes along with effort constraints.

Last night before bed I had a local model, Qwen 3.6 (latest is 3.8) 14B (spills out into system RAM a bit but still runs decently), add the "Shutdown" command to this Rust app (Claude Sonnet built it). That's a first. Never had a local mode do the job before even if it was a small one.
