Yeah Jeter the player was always far more compelling than Jeter the guy. My favorite players were like Bernie, Matsui, Canó, dudes who you could see were alive. Jeter's best quality was that you knew he basically never, ever, ever put in a bad at-bat. Which means a lot! But only so much charisma.
