I wrote 'What You Lost' to process my grief and anger over Hurricane Helene, particularly the response from our Federal Government and my Congressman Chuck Edwards. But it's one of my more hopeful stories, because it's maybe less about what I lost, (all my fucks) and more about what I found.

Books of 2026: 15 The Keeper Tana French can do no wrong. I love how she writes women, so I didn't love this one as much as earlier books. However, it's moody and quiet and devastating: exactly what her readers want.

First semester grades came out yesterday. They are kind of a big deal in law school, stakes higher than any other grad program I've been in. I decided to deal with the weight of that by giving myself bangs on Monday. The good news, I did better than I expected. Less good, now I have bangs.

Books of 2026: 1 How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu Totally not my usual thing, this dystopian sci-fi isn't character or even plot driven, but it is compelling and breaks so many storytelling molds that I feel like my own work can't help but be changed in the wake of reading this.
