Not the key point, but if Harborne is worried by climate change, why give money to Farage who with his chums deny its happening and have filled their wallets with fossil-fuel related money? Last week, wasn't Richard Tice was looking forward to planting vineyards in Skegness?

However deep the pockets of the new owner, there is also a commercial factor too - advertisers have lines they won't cross and won't want their brands associated with. This will influence editorial thinking.

Conservative regime now running Westminster Council is pandering to its core electorate who are a minority of residents. But the voters of Westminster did get the result they sought at the May'26 election. Choice of votes under the FPTP system has consequences. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_We...

Badenoch studied A-Levels in biology, chemistry and maths,[29] at Phoenix College, a sixth form college in Morden, south London. She achieved a B in biology, a B in chemistry and a D in maths,[19] claiming that "no one at the school had pushed [her] to fulfil [her] potential" despite being a "straight A student" while in Nigeria and that being let down by "the soft bigotry of low expectations" pushed her to become a conservative.[30]

Badenoch defends selection of man jailed for harassing MP in council poll

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has faced down awkward questions from reporters today after the Conservatives selected as a local election candidate a man who was once jailed for harassing a former MP.

Joshua Bonehill-Paine was jailed in 2016 after he was convicted of racially aggravated harassment of former Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree, Luciana Berger. He labelled the Jewish MP “an evil money-grabber” with a “deep-rooted hatred of men” and claimed the number of Jewish Labour MPs was a “problem”. He was previously jailed for producing an antisemitic ad illustrated with a picture of Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.

Speaking to reporters on a trip accompanying a police raid in Surrey today, Badenoch said her party believed in second chances. She said:

I want to be very clear – and I think people can look at me and know that I’m not a person who would be recruiting neo-Nazis. Josh is someone who actually has been certified by the Home Office to train police officers on antisemitism and on countering extremism.

Yes, he is somebody who had been previously convicted but he is someone who has shown contrition for his crimes, has been rehabilitated and is spending every day working to solve the very problem which he knew that he had caused previously. And the Conservative party believes in second chances.

This is not just someone that we’ve picked up who’s a convicted criminal – this is somebody who is actively working to help communities.

I think there’s some crossed wires here, Tony. I fully support Thames Water coming back into public ownership. Renationalisation relates to the entire water system and that would only be possible over a longer period of time.
