These are the models I was most proud of painting in 2025. Horses are bloody hard to paint and I think I actually managed to capture that musculature here. And I’m finally starting to get value gradients right. (Kurnoth’s Heralds, Warhammer Underworlds)
Three painted plastic miniatures. Centaurs with red armour on stony oval bases.

I thought I’d play a nice pirate-themed video game to relax during my break from work. But one of the side quests involves hiring a management consultant to take you and your crew through compliance training. They brought a white board onto my pirate ship.

Ten painted T’au Vespid Stingwing miniatures with orange-yellow bodies, bright red guns, and pale cream wings with brown shading. An additional Oversight Drone is present, painted in matching colours. All models are on round bases with sand, rocks, and tufts of green and brown grass.

And here’s the finished result! Changing mediums means starting from 0 skill again, but I’m happy with the result. It’s super easy to get a good gradient with oils, especially on cloth. Don’t believe the Sigmarite propaganda: Skaven are actually cute little rat bros who just need a hug.

I’m trying my hand at oil paints for the first time. This is “imprimatura” — I slather the model with brown paint and then wipe the excess off with a makeup sponge, leaving a gorgeous stain that respects the contours of the model

Remaining in an area of repair and maintenance of sacred machines is beneficial to this unit’s cognitive functions.”

I converted a Stormcast Lord-Relictor into a Chaplain for my Angels Resplendent. I love the marble base technique here. I take a dry baby wipe and stretch it out over the base and then spray it white. Great effect for such a small effort.

I am so, so glad that that the books I read don’t belong to this category. I don’t want people who refer to their books as “high literature” anywhere near my hobby.
The first paragraph of the Wikipedia article for “Literary fiction”:

“Literary fiction, mainstream fiction, non-genre fiction, serious fiction, high literature, artistic literature, and sometimes just literature, are labels that, in the book trade, refer to market novels that do not fit neatly into an established genre (see genre fiction); or, otherwise, refer to novels that are character-driven rather than plot-driven, examine the human condition, use language in an experimental or poetic fashion, or are simply considered serious art.”
