The book I'm publishing in August was called "time travel disaster gays" in my WIP folder for literal years until I finally came up with a title for it. Anyway, for that reason alone you should add THE LAST INFINITY to your tbr! www.goodreads.com/book/show/25...

As writers, we contend with the blank spots—the secrets, the omissions, and all that we have forgotten. This writing prompt, from the first chapter of Millions of Suns, asks you to write the missing parts. There are over 50 writing prompts in the book to guide you into your creative practice.
White background with black text and the image of a pen. Text reads: The Forgotten. Select a memorable scene from your childhood. Write down everything you can remember in explicit and meticulous detail. Now write down all that you don't remember. Some of the details will be easy to imagine plausibly; some will not. Write a poem, essay, or story that pulls on both memory and forgetting. From Millions of Suns: On Writing and Life by Sharon Fagan McDermott & M. C. Benner DixonRaspberry pink background with the cover image of MILLIONS OF SUNS showing a blazing yellow tree against a red sky. Text: Essays & Prompts. Millions of Suns. Writing, I suggest, is a tool of attention—and my attention can be as variable as a cloudscape. I like to see what happens to my writing when I let it reflect both my hyperfocus and my squirrel brain. If the goal is to catch the full breadth of the human experience, don't we have to try it all?

Science fiction has spent decades building permission structure for the broligarchs to put chips in our heads and have "AI replace us" and accept gritty brutalist cyberpunk as "cool!" so maybe... stop doing that? I feel like we (SF authors) should stop doing that. (Alt: readers do it for us)

This essay about weeds and teachers came out today on Vox Populi. It’s part of an essay collection that Sharon and I are working on—all nature essays. We just turned the full manuscript in to our editor this week! Here's the link to the full essay: voxpopulisphere.com/2025/10/16/m...
Color drawing of an orange daylily on a white background. Handwritten text: Will Pull Weeds For Cash (excerpts) by M. C. Benner DixonGreen weeds poke up from the bottom of the image. Text: It was a good summer job for a college kid. A quick drive down Old Plains Road, past the AT&T tower, and pull in at one of the innumerable fieldstone farmhouses nestled among the Pennsylvania back roads of the Upper Perkiomen Valley. Elaine would be waiting for me with my tools—a small trowel, a garden rake, a forked dandelion weeder—and a bucket for the weeds.Various plants mentioned in the text fill the margins around handwritten words. Text: I knew my johnny-jump-ups from my wood sorrel, my daisies from my fleabane. I could spot poison ivy at twenty paces and knew the difference between its leaves and Virginia creeper.A cluster of pokeberries hang from one corner of the image. Text: The typical home gardener creates the perfect environment for these weeds. We disturb the soil. We clear it and dig it and turn it over, keeping it in a perpetual state of starting over. From the perspective of the plants trying to grow in our gardens, we are an ever-collapsing riverbank, an endless landslide, a storm-toppled tree that falls over and over, exposing soil to the sun.

A poster, featuring an illustrated portrait of Aubeline de Sterraux from A LEGACY OF BLOOD AND BONE. She is a white woman with brown hair tied in an intricate hairstyle. She wears a black dress with puffed sleeves and white earings. Aubeline is shown kneeling and praying, her head looking up.

The top of the poster is colored, and the bottom part is black and white, the two part being separated by a red stain reminiscent of blood.

The title of the book is in the center. Underneath is more text reading "A novel by Millie Abecassis," then a quote by April Yates reading "A gothic gem, rich with dread, desire, and a magic system as haunting as it is original."

Under the quote are the names of several characters, listed as if they were actors: Aubeline de Sterraux, Vinnie Anneton, Damarisse de Sterraux, and "unhinged dudes."

At the top are Cannes festival-style quotes reading "dangerous body-based magic" and "slow-burn sapphic romance."

After the horrible accident at Clairton Coke Works the other day, my feed was filled with news stories about the casualties. In the comments (because I sometimes torture myself by reading the comments), someone mentioned the air pollution caused by the facility. They were immediately attacked.
