That’s very kind and diplomatic Mick, but the fact that it saves me going out during golden/blue hour means that the laziness is probably the biggest driver. The escholtzia share a bed with lavender so the purple and mostly orange poppies give it a real zing. The contrast in foliage is good too.

Yeah get that. I carry a DSLR with a 18-250 travel zoom to avoid lugging about lots of options. Mobile phone mindset has a lot to do with that, I’ve compromised quality for portability.

New growth on trees is always interesting. The vibrant green of beech trees on the Udny Estate in Aberdeenshire is on my dog walking route and is my entry this week for; #sharemondays2026 #FSprintmonday

Thanks Sarah, I’m about 15 miles north of Aberdeen. It sometimes feels like a disadvantage as I watch everyone posting their images weeks before I can. This week I’m going to try and get some wild garlic images at NTS Pitmedden Garden which is a few hundred yards from my house.

Allium Hollandicum, Purple Sensation from my garden. The image shows the energy of the umbel as it is about to burst from its bud. It’s shot with a very shallow depth of field so that only the vibrant purple head is in focus before it explodes like a purple firework.

Expectations of some lovely bright, sunny images were dashed with several days of rain and thunderstorms during a week in Verona and Lake Garda. Still managed some good contrast and mood despite the conditions. #fsprintmonday #sharemondays2026

One of a few rainy day wanders around the historic city centre of Verona. People are sheltering in doorways to avoid the drizzle. Colourful umbrellas punctuate the gloomy atmosphere of the dark,
narrow streets. Light filters down the alleys and reflects the brightness off the marble and tarmac pavements and streets. Bright clothing has a darker tone from endured soaking.

Oil seed rape fields are just beginning to bloom in rural Aberdeenshire as the temperatures rise and daylight lengthens. A beautiful big blue sky and wonderfully fluffy clouds along with the Pitmedden community trust wind turbine in the distance complete a fairly minimal idyllic scene.
