Perhaps influenced by that to John Boyes, Dean of Canterbury (d. 1625; Canterbury Cathedral).

My undergrad work-study job in the mid-80s was printing triplicate invoices on an industrial printer in the basement of the URL (as was) and delivering them by hand across campus to the constituent libraries. Those were the days.

Latin Book of Common Prayer communion this morning in University Church to mark official start of term. All very 1850s—except the celebrant was a woman. 👍👍 Dignum et justum est.

We’re on this site where we’ve been visiting for 20+ years. Unspoiled upland moors and streams; not remotely industrial. As per in Scotland, development will benefit only one hereditary landowner. Appalling.

The message is clear: people want nature protected, and they want more ambition. With 2030 fast approaching, the Government must listen and turn public support into real action for nature. Read the full article here: www.wildlifetrusts.org/news/polling...

This should hardly be a surprise. He did occasionally use 'we' when presenting, but 'they' should have featured more openly. It's time for a more realistic (and honest) GW. And preferably presented by someone who doesn't write for the Daily Mail.

d. #otd 1626 Lancelot Andrewes, bp. of Winchester. Son of a London mariner, godson and namesake of a London waterman, b. All Hallows-by-the-Tower 1555. Scholar, author, benefactor. Buried on Bankside in St Saviour's Church (later Southwark Cathedral). He never married. #earlymodern

30+ years of this catching this morning view on visits to the UL, and still can’t resist taking one these en route.
Classic view up the river Can from a bridge looking toward another; framed by weeping willow and punts. Soft morning light.

Fine Andrew Scott performance (‘Pressure’). Crashed for me with scene of Allied officers singing ‘All Creatures of Our God and King’ in a small Victorian church with organ registration and reverb only possible in the acoustic of St Paul’s cathedral.
