Even if one thinks that impeachment isn't the right path forward, it's ridiculous in terms of political strategy to take it off the table at a time when Democrats might be on the cusp of retaking the House. At the least, it's leverage!

My (nonexpert) read of the Brazil election is that most people are completely unaware of structural dynamics in politics or even of the general smell of an authoritarian. A vote is often a vibes-based referendum on the incumbent, almost irrespective of the opposition.

I think this needs to be on people’s radar more, if only because in their psychology Texas is not a place where voters compete to see who is in control, it’s a core GOP possession and losing that possession will be seen as a direct and existential attack.

That this is *not* the trust that has been broken astounds me. I gave feedback earlier this year on some restoring trust projects. I mentioned Cornell's president hitting a student and alum with apparently little regret as the type of damage these projects need to care about. Elite impunity matters.

Obviously I’m not the audience, but his negatives are so high that it seems like the most effective ads would just be attack ads and would completely ignore Paxton’s record. His negatives are incredibly high, no one is going to be affirmatively convinced on the issues here.

There’s a Ken Paxton ad (from a PAC, not the Paxton campaign; he doesn’t seem to have any money of his own) that starts out talking about child predators and then immediately cuts to a pic of Paxton with a forced grin and it just hits all wrong.

Cornell Police and the County Prosecutor's office seem intent on saying, in barely concealed terms, the other is to blame. It's a system where they're both happy to be able to pass off any responsibility while preserving their authority / power / territory; something fundamental has to change.
