Ukraine’s Magura V7 sea drone now launches interceptor drones to target enemy UAVs
Ukraine’s Magura V7 sea drone, developed by Uforce, now features a new capability: launching interceptor drones designed to destroy hostile UAVs.
The upgraded Magura V7 has already undergone successful trials in real combat conditions in Odesa. The Economist journalist Oliver Carroll shared video footage of the tests on social media platform X .
In the video, an interceptor drone is seen launching from a container integrated into the Magura sea drone. Carroll commented that this emerging technology could prove valuable in the Middle East.
“Do the interceptors automatically launch from sea drones when approaching threats are detected? Can they be remotely operated from hundreds of kilometers away to destroy targets? The future envisioned in Dubai has already undergone battle testing. In Odesa,” Carroll wrote.
Subsequently, the OSINT group “Oko Gora” published a photo on its Telegram channel providing a closer look at the Magura V7 capable of launching interceptor drones.
According to Defence Express , launching interceptor UAVs from Magura sea drones is a logical evolution for the platform, enabling Ukrainian forces to destroy more enemy Shahed drones.
“Moreover, this is a truly innovative solution that could be offered to the U.S. and other countries in the context of defense against Iranian Shahed attacks in the Middle East—essentially creating a ‘curtain’ of sea drones protecting coastlines and intercepting hostile UAVs,” experts at the portal say.
Earlier, Ukraine had reported successful use of sea drones as launch platforms for FPV drones targeting Russian positions along the coastline
