I think we can all agree public executions are barbaric and whatnot, that said, the amount of people who seemingly think private executions without cameras are far more noble is also distressing to me.

you should still work to better yourself no matter what system you're under obvs if you think me saying "it's ok to struggle" somehow translates to "just give up on trying" it's because you're still stuck in that mindset. get the hell outta there

"criticizing women for anything is misogyny" is an interesting cousin of "if a woman does it, it's feminist"

It's still a struggle to get people to envision the struggle for trans rights in terms of bodily autonomy, in terms of sex being a mutable characteristic that we have a right to alter without intervention or censure. It was a perfect wedge issue because cis people's discomfort went unchallenged.

Because the very idea of changing sex is seen as so alien, impossible; which leads to trans identity being regarded as artifice and play-acting that it is simply polite to humor; and so when transphobes question this state of affairs and challenge people's commitment to it, they have nothing.

For a long time after the "tipping point", media outlets developed a language of casting aspersions on trans healthcare and trans existence that garnered no pushback from most people who considered themselves supporters of LGBT rights. That eventually metastasized into today's overt fascist climate.

You could say a lot about deradicalization being a journey and not a destination, but one thing that can't be understated is how much transphobia is seen as less of an issue. Even amongst "allies" and "liberals" and "progressives". Even amongst "fellow queers". Especially if you're "polite".

the discourse Callisto references reminds me of Janice Raymond writing an entire essay about how too many lesbians are doing patriarchal sex and how they need to stop. and also she equated butchfemme to pederasty

Sad that I have to say this in the big 26 but it goes both ways. The puritanical terminally online brain rot that has people saying wlw is inherently misogynistic unless it's sweet no-sex fluff are on on the opposite end to those who consider lesbian desire superior and both are harmful.

Sexual desire is morally neutral. It is no more or less moral than hunger. Women sexually desiring other women may not be normal to you, but it is not harmful, it's entirely natural and completely neutral. It's just another fact of nature, and treating sex between women otherwise is the real harm.

'Hetslop is when women just fantasize about being loved and understood' makes no sense anyway when you learn they read KKK and nazi romances, and otherwise books where the alpha chad fascist rapes and murders 'lesser' women (marginalized, sex workers, etc) but treats their self-inserts nice.

So they circle the drain trying to invent some logic in which 'hetslop' is a deadly slur--a deadly misogynistic slur, perhaps--all because they feel it's just so unfair we get to 'slur' (lol) them but they can't slur us back. God, if only they could call the people saying 'hetslop' some slurs!

This is why you need to be wary of any white person that whines about "anti white racism" or gets pressed if a person of color says "mean things about white people". That kind of paste clings to the white identity as a legitimate thing even as they talk about being French or Italian as it suits them

You actually can't be bigoted or racist against white people because whiteness is a social project defined by what it is not, what it is not changes over time to suit the needs of the supremacist endeavor.

Apparently Democrats are now offering to pay random people to "get out the vote." I got a text offering to pay me $120 from a Democratic PAC (Relentless) for doing this in Texas. Kinda wild but unsurprising they're copying Elon's legal vote-buying tactics from 2024.
RALLY Texas

You'll earn $25 for every friend friend who signs up with your link & completes the program, up to 5 friends.
