Mayqo'te day 31 : Tomorrow To keep going, they just need a bit of faith for a better tomorrow 💙 #mayqote #mayqote2026 #ffxiv

Tomorrow

It has a been a few weeks since a wounded, young miqo'te named D'lohi crossed the border in the arms of their dying mother. After being brought back to health but the conjurers, the miqo'te had to start adapting to a new life, in an foreign city and alone whenever they warden was away on patrol. Despite the deeds of a few charitable souls, Gridania at large, remained a hostile society toward outsiders and miqo'tes and on a particularly harsh day D'lohi found themselves the target of a few vicious youths in town.

"Ah, found you !" Beatin's call snapped out the miqo'te out of their thoughts, they've been sitting on the banks of the Jadeite flood, gazing at their rippling reflection for what felt like hours, trying to keep their mind away from the grief the pain of the bruises. "I was worried, not seeing you at today's lecture. But I'm glad to see you're somewhat okay." D'lohi sighed, not adverting their gaze for the waters bellow. "Maybe, as they said, it would be better if i wasn't here."

The woodworker placed his hand on the kit's head, taking his time to think about what to say. "You shouldn't listen to those cruel fools D'lohi. They know naught of you and I'm sure your parents would prefer if you keep heart and going." The miqo'te's eyes started to water, "Then, why do they keep doing that ?" they asked with a trembling voice. "Well, being mean is easier" lamented Beatin. "Then why aren't you ?" D'lohi retorted, a bit confused "Heh… Because it's right, because I hope, as violence breeds violence, kindness will give rise to kinder souls."

D'lohi hummed, satisfied with the answer the elezen gave them, while he smirked, pleased to have maybe nudged a young soul toward a better path. "Now then, you might've missed today's writing lesson. But i think there's still time to teach you some things today." He said while pulling out a freshly made fishing rod and handing it over with a little wooden box to their pupil. "This afternoon's lesson : Fly fishing !" D'lohi was ecstatic to receive such a gift, they followed the carpenter and fished at his side until twilight

“You know D'lohi, today might've been terrible, but I promise you this : with your help, I’ll do my best to make tomorrow and every other day worth living.”

Mayqo'te day 30 : Cosmic What could be waiting to be discovered up there ? #mayqote #mayqote2026 #ffxiv

Cosmic

The spaceship Ragnarok was in its last preparation before taking flight onward to the confines of the cosmos, after the Scions did all they could to procure the resources for the trip, they were tasked with the most important duty so far : Get as much rest before leaping into the unknown.

A restless night, D’lohi spent most of it tumbling into their bed trying to get some shut eye, but their mind kept them awake with a wide variety of intrusive thoughts. Then a knock on the door was heard, the miqo’te was fuming, they asked their fellow comrades to leave them alone, but when they went to scold however dared to disturb them the miqo’te stood in the doorway, agape, ears folding flat on their head, as this visitor wasn’t on op the Scion, but their love : Yaelle. She stepped in, wrapping her arms around her beloved and lifting them up before closing the door behind her.

D’lohi tried to squirm their way out of the elezen's embrace but to no avail. Giving up, they too reciprocated her embrace, finally allowing months of built-up feeling out at last. Once again, she was the only one able to crack the shell D’lohi keeps building around themselves, it was natural for her. After some reassurances and teasing she sat at the dining table while D’lohi was pouring drinks.

”Before all this, have you ever thought about what could lie in the confines of space ?” She asked as her partner sat down next to her. They put the palm under their chin looking at the clear night sky. “Well, beside our doom…” they paused, pressing a mug against their lips. “I’ve heard some scholars claim that the universe was mostly nothingness, which sounds weird seeing how full of stars the sky is." Yaelle giggled. "They’re bound to be many things, some wondrous, some scary, but I hope that whatever you stumble upon, you can bring me back tales for me to devour.”

Mayqo'te day 28 : Eternity They'd prefer being fondly remembered, but maybe being swiftly forgoten would hurt less ? #mayqote #mayqote2026 #ffxiv

Eternity

“Lohi ! You’re still in here ?” Kip’s voice pierced through the thick door of D’lohi’s bedroom, accentuated by her fist thumping against the wood, like a battering ram filled with good intentions. The miqo’te, jolted awake from their semi-conscious state, sighed as they tossed the pen in their hand against the desk “I. Live.” they stated, trying their best to not sound pissed as they headed toward the door, hastily folding their draft in their pocket, grabbing their pack with the other hand. “The Ship to Sharlayan is leaving shortly and everyone beside you is on the pier.” lamented the Warrior of Light.

D’lohi yanked the door open before slamming it shut “Let’s hurry then.” The lack of emotion in the miqo’te’s prose caught Kip’s attention, but she chucked it as being the morning grogginess so many experiences, wanting to respect her companion’s boundaries she led the way without a word. In the back of their mind, D’lohi thanked the gods that their companion was none the wiser to their plight.

So many times the miqo’te’s remaining comrades have threaded close to death, so many times D’lohi’s heart dropped at the thought of losing any of them, especially after all that transpired in the First. Kip almost turning into the sineater that could’ve ended the world, Raha planning to disappear into nothingness to save them all, and his rocky return into the Source.

The thoughts of losing anyone, each moment of uncertainty felt like tortuous eons. The terrific moments they lived through kept plaguing D’lohi’s mind whenever it was idle, fears crawled from dark corners of their mind, slowly taking over all thoughts they were having. Chasing sleep away, exhausting D’lohi to the point they started resorting to alcohol to actually catch some sleep. Awaking each time feeling like their end was nigh and that maybe they should spare their friends the grief, even if it meant acting against the miqo’te’s nature.

“I can’t face the eternity of the afterlife knowing I’ve caused them the same grief that has broken me, so maybe I’ll have to make it satisfying for them…”

Mayqo'te day 27 : Noir A bit far-fetched theme-wise, but so many things are rotten in Ishgard #mayqote #mayqote2026 #ffxiv

Noir

“Another day, another round of bullshit trials” D’lohi sighed, extracting themselves with some difficulty out of the dingy inn’s bed they’ve been renting since what’s left of the scions fled to Ishgard. Even then, as much as the Warrior of Light, Alphinaud and Tataru, the miqo’te was a ward of House Fortemps, they’ve elected to put as much distance between them and their host, mostly due to how bad the relation with Fortemps’ heir son got after the first meeting.

Not long after arriving in the holy city, D’lohi discovered first hand how the judicial system worked as a random knight attempted to frame the miqo’te for heresy. The process being somewhat expedient and courtroom being empty should have been a source of concern, but Haurchefant timely intervention allowed a trial by combat to be granted, easily allowing the miqo'te to clear their name.

With the help of Yaelle, D’lohi investigated their prosecutor and his chain of command, allowing them to understand why they got pulled into this mess. A high ranking inquisitor named Hubert, who was attempting to avenge his bruised ego from the debacle surrounding a bunch of adventurers uncovering a heretic’s plant within the inquisition, by trying to get rid of all involved.

Since then, while the Warrior of Light was running errands for house Fortemps. D’lohi kept an eye on Hubert's doing, on whom he sent to trial, championing for them whenever it was possible, while also making sure the miqo’te’s friends were out of judicial reach. An unexpected consequence from all these courtroom activities was that D’lohi started to gain a city-wide reputation as a defender of the little folk, bringing upon them increased scrutiny.

Mazeh'a is sitting at his desk with a quill in hand, focused on writing something down. There are numerous papers and books strewn around. It's midnight.

Mazeh'a has fallen asleep over their desk, head on one forearm, and we can see the quill lying flat on their papers. There's sunlight shining from the window and the time on the grandfather clock has changed to several hours later.

Mayqo'te Day 30 - Cosmic Who would believe I've travelled to the moon, let alone other stars?! #mayqote #mayqote2026

v'bhun stands on a rocky outcropping overlooking a spherical, high-tech looking base on the lunar surface. the ground is white chalky stone in contrast to the slick and circular buildings. in the distance, a large blue crystal formation stands tall into the empty dark of space with stars twinkling above.

v'bhun is kneeling in front of a peculiar plant with purple conical flowers, almost resembling a glass or bottle. the grassy ground around is also bursting with other flora in hues of blue, purple and pink.

v'bhun ponders a red-pink crystal formation jutting out of the ground in sharp points, much like a sea urchin or anemone.

v'bhun stands on a cliff. in the distance, a spherical shape floats ominiously in the air, its core alight in blue as rocky "continents" float around it. rocks are also floating, suspended in space around the other cliffs surrounding the area.
