I think there’s a difference worth pointing out between a person you know changing their mind (welcome) & a pundit feeling the wind shift on their spit-slicked finger as they declare it’s now correct to call something fascist (fuck off into the sun). One of them will never fight alongside you.

I’m watching an octopus documentary and loooked up “why no one says octopi anymore.” It says we don’t because you only do the plural -i ending for words that come from Latin and octopus has a Greek origin. But the word “polyamory” exists so maybe language is dumb and rules aren’t real. #WordNerd

An illustration of a young women yanking a weed out of a bed of marigolds. The primary colours of the piece are deep green and a saffron yellow, with some brown and moss green tones as well. The camera is looking up at the young girl with a forced perspective, as she pulls out the weed while leaning back. The text reads: PULL FASCISM UP BY THE ROOT.

What fascinates me in DS9 and now with B5 is when a society considers abandoning their core values once presented with an existential threat. When you survive, how’s does your communal identity have to shift? This is the question I ask in my WIP.
