The last few years of his life I watched Parkinsons steal more and more of the things he loved doing from him, but he had his friends, and his family and his sense of humor right up to the end.

He wanted to come to all of my comedy shows. I usually didn't let him. He drove me crazy in a thousand ways. He loved me more than he understood me.

He had no filter at all, and would constantly hurt people's feelings without even realizing it. I watched him make friends and drive them away over and over again in an endless cycle. But the friends that stuck by him became like family.

We used to go out to the field near the house where I grew up whenever there was a meteor shower and stay up late watching shooting stars together. On long car trips we'd listen to Bill Bryson audiobooks.
