I had a history teacher in high school who worked long past retirement age because she loved the job. She told a lot of stories about the Depression, and I colored my experience. Her dad ran the company store in a West Virginia coal town, so her family was relatively prosperous.

Webpack and Rollup use the Acorn library for parsing. ESBuild rolls its own parsing. SWC is a popular Rust library that includes a parser. The Vite folks are working on a new parser.
