mattyfloyd @mattyfloyd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Can I add that (somewhat controversially) I don’t think Disease was the right lead. It’s a great opening track but it’s too self-consciously a Bloody Mary re-tread and just too plodding to be a Halloween Party hit. mattyfloyd @mattyfloyd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I find the “the 70s were better than the 80s which were better than the 90s” political discourse really tiresome. Why do we have to “go back” to anything? Apart from a small proportion of the party membership that are old enough to be 70s socialist nostalgist; I don’t know who it’s for. 000
mattyfloyd @mattyfloyd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Absolutely. But as someone that works in this genre, it interests me how the “cosy-fication” of competitive formats is largely a UK (and to a lesser extent some Northern European countries) thing. Bake Off is a big hit in the US. But it doesn’t mean every show has been Bake-Off-ified. 111
