Relented and turned on the heat today (I work from home Mondays and Fridays). Not quite ready to wear Cratchit gloves yet. However, it's been since spring since the downstairs furnace has been on and I thought it was the garbage being picked up outside before realizing what was going on.

Took Gumball for a first spin. Despite being a pound heavier, I rolled an avg of 165 which is right in line. 😍 Side note: Kudos to the parents at Elsie's throwing a bowling birthday for their 7 y/o kid and friends. They handed out fake mustaches and soul patches for everyone. They looked great!

Took my oldest kid down to Iowa for their senior year of college. They have a fantastic girlfriend whose parents we absolutely adore. An excellent situation all around. Hopefully we won’t get a call from neighbors or police with our youngest college kid at home throwing a party tonight. 🤞🏼

The last year has been one of the highlights of my 30 year engineering career – abolishing MS Word for official documentation. Markdown -> PDF is infinitely superior than Word making your documents look like shit. Sadly, I don’t see getting rid of Teams or Outlook soon. 😭

I’m stranded in the U.P. until my car is fixed. On the other hand, I get more time with my elderly folks, I happened to bring my work laptop, and there have been some banger sunsets. But the baby ducks have done the most to assuage my grief.

My 76yo neighbor Jude is a huge baseball and Twins fan. And after the ‘25 season, is also a Mariner’s fan now because of me. She was so happy when we came home Sunday she started to tear up, partly due to having someone to text with about the Twins and M’s games. Just now, during an M’s game:
