I've been digging into the new Dragonbane TTRPG (Scandinavian-born D&D alternative), and it seems like a blast. The roll-under and skill-focused systems seem like a much better onboarding experience for brand-new-to-TTRPG players than 5e. Have you had a chance to play a game in it? Thoughts?

The Protoss were a pleasure to build, too. Each of the army models had two poses, so you end up with a nice spread. First time I’ve built a plastic model set and didn’t need ANY sprue goo.
Archon Studio’s Protoss starter box plus Zerat, minus one sentry I broke by dropping it on the floor because I forgot to glue it to its base and didn’t realize it when I picked it up.

AAAAAND complete! Trusted the process, got 3rd place in the local "biggie" category of a local mini competition, and came out with a fun Tarrasque mini that I get to inflict on my players 😈 #dnd #minipainting #miniatures
A fully painted miniature. Model by Archon Studios.

An opal-bedecked, purple and blue tarrasque. Standing atop a fallen castle, the tarrasque is both terrifying and.... majestic, if we don't mind being unoriginal in our description.

To demonstrate the size of the tarrasque, in front is a traditional, human-sized pirate mini. He was willing but nervous to be part of this photo shoot.

The thing that helped teaching my kids was lowering the seat and taking off the pedals! Just use your feet to push you around like a scooter. Having both feet down keeps you from falling, and the balance is by far the hardest part to learn.

One hour into painting my tarrasque: got a nice Clown Vibe going 🤡 (Gotta trust the process!!!!) #dnd #minipainting
A tarrasque “mini” from dungeons and lasers.

It is in the process of being painted. It is covered in pastel colors along its rocky spine and various rocky outcroppings along its body. It looks like a four-year-old clown unleashed on it.

Took advantage of my first lazy Saturday in ages to finish these 3. I've always loved the aesthetic of Eberron, and a cowboy bow-slinger absolutely fits the bill. My wife called him, "Yeehaw,"and if we're being honest with ourselves.... Yeehaw Silver is a 100% lore-accurate Warforged name. #dnd
Three hand-painted miniatures, sculpted by Artisan Guild.

A Warforged cowboy stands between his two construct hounds. His steel and brass exterior is protected by a thick leather poncho. He wears a white hat and a Sheriff's star. He is wielding two enchanted golden crossbows.

One hound is made of steel and brass, the other gold and steel. They are two loyal friends in an otherwise disloyal world.

The three of them work together to protect the weak and innocent, bring outlaws to justice, and discover what the heck is making all that racket. Three hand-painted miniatures, sculpted by Artisan Guild.

I saw this with my wife after reading this article. It was genuinely one of the best horror movies I've seen in years. It was genuinely terrifying and existentially haunting, and I know that I'm going to struggle falling asleep tonight. The whole cast was stellar, but she killed it (pun intended).

I've had a quiet spring so far, and I finally sat down and gave a mini I've been eyeing the time it deserves. I got the inspiration I needed to get started when scrolling through countless shorts on how to paint crystals. "Oh, I've gotta try that!" #dnd #miniatures #minipainting

Also - I wasn't super happy with how the hobgoblin's skin came out. I used Army Painter's Crusader Skin SP over what I thought was a very white-heavy slap-chop. I was hoping for a more vibrant peachy color. Anyone have better luck getting an actual skin tone with a different speed/contrast paint?

Hosted D&D for the kids last weekend, and I had to panic-paint all the baddies in one night. I genuinely love when a deadline forces me into a "fast" paint job. I tend toward slow, high-level paint sessions, so it feels GOOD pushing through 8 minis in one night. #dnd #miniaturepainting
Eight hand-painted miniatures. In the front row are 5 "boulder-shark" miniatures by Hoard of the Banshee. In the back row are two hobgoblin miniatures by Arbiter Miniatures and one Axebeak by Hoard of the Banshee.

In my campaign, the boulder sharks are a stand-in for sahuagin (evil fish-men). The body of each is painted in a unique single color. From left to right they're royal blue, forest green, bright purple, moss green/yellow, and a dull indigo. They are all standing on bases painted to resemble rocky beaches.

The hobgoblins are both wielding gold hammers. They're wearing leather pteryges (roman leather skirt-armor. I had to look up the word for it) and wooden pauldrons, with the same gold color accenting them. They have a sickly pale purple skin with flaming red hair across their heads, shoulders, arms, and feet. They have purple eyepatches, though it's hard to tell because the color is so close to their skin tone.

The Axe beak is a bubblegum pink with a brighter pink along its neck and belly. It has a goldenrod (yellow/orange) beak. It is equipped as a mount with a saddle and camping supplies strapped to its back.

My FLGS has a mini painting competition tomorrow. The categories are, "Fantasy" and "Sci-Fi." I've got fantasy minis for days, but I didn't really have any sci-fi ones. This guy has been sitting on my shelf for nearly a year. I haven't felt "ready." I figured "If not now, when?" #warhammer #tau

After attending a local painting workshop, me and the fam fell in love with the Girly Pop painting style. We spent Saturday painting pastel. Technically, this an in-progress shot as I've still got to bedazzle him - but he's looking stylish as hell, and I wanted to share. #dnd #miniaturepainting
A dungeons and dragons miniature painted in the Girly Pop style. The miniature was sculpted by Arbiter Miniatures.

The miniature is a mounted warrior wielding a bright white longsword. He is dark-skinned and smiling brightly. His equipment is entirely pastel. His plate armor is baby blue, his chain mail is white, the leather straps of his armor and baldering are bright pink, and the cloth of his cloak and boots are a sunny yellow.

His horse's fur matches his armor - baby blue. Its hooves are yellow, and its mane and the feathering on its legs are a soft lavender. The horse's saddle and riding blanket are seafoam green.

Vibe coding is the industry’s latest fall into confusing activity for progress. A PM’s job is deciding what gets built and driving it to done. SWEs own the how and ship the product. PMs vibe-coding features is a red flag, they’re distracting themselves instead of using AI to speed up real PM work.

Why Coding PMs Are Creating Tomorrow’s Tech Debt
Let’s say the quiet part out loud. When PMs ship code, it doesn’t make them closer to the work.

Maybe it was just getting to hang out with my brother all day and paint minis that put me in a great mood, but I couldn't be happier with how this owlbear turned out. Nothing beats painting minis with those closest to you. #miniaturepainting #miniatures #dnd
An owlbear miniature, designed by Arbiter Miniatures and printed on my FDM 3D printer.

It's inspired by a bluejay. Its feathers are varying shades of royal blue, while the fur on its belly, legs, and underarms are white. It stands protectively over two eggs - one recently hatched, and one still waiting for the perfect time to emerge. An owlbear miniature, designed by Arbiter Miniatures.

Spent the weekend finishing “Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus”, whom I got at a local painting event. She was a blast! I worried she was a bit plain at first, but I got to try a few new techniques and paint a little dragon. Loved it! #warhammer #miniatures
Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus, a Warhammer: 40K hero.

She is wearing purple and teal power armor. Perched on her power fist is an orange dragon-like creature.

In her other hand, she wields a blue and green Eldar Shrunken (which looks like a very cool laser rifle).

On her back is a fluttering blue cloak, attached to her armor by a big ass skull pauldron. Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus, a Warhammer: 40K hero.
