As if a slew of great comic artists wasn’t enough of a draw (intended), look at this bonkers great line up of programming for NCAF next weekend!

Cookeville shirefolk, don’t miss Hobbit Day at Dream Country Brewing this Sunday, 9/20! I’ll be doing an art pop up in the afternoon with prints, stickers, and comics. My new print, “Over Barrow and Under Burrow,” debuts that day, available at the bar from open until they run out! #hobbit #shire

A spread of small prints depicting a burrow and barrow, surrounded by pastoral objects.

Extremely good read, I got to see just a fraction of this impact while running rpgs at the library and it was a moving testament to Games.

A day of Dragon Con done and it was a blast as always! These weekends with Junior (Daniel Walker) are magical times. I’m stocked up with mini comics, SWU tokens, and stickers to share and I’m excited to give them out. Come find me! (Good freakin’ luck) #dragoncon #dragoncon2026 #indianajones

Selfie of me dressed as Henry Jones Sr and Daniel Walker as Indiana, standing front of the Atlanta Ferris Wheel.

A spread of mini comics, Star Wars token cards, and stickers stating that one has chosen Wisely or Poorly.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

wanted to actually use the various random generation dice i have. big ones are from Viridian Gaming, corridor d6 sucks and is 30 years old. hugely inspired by the map from the Official Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Coloring Album.

a hand drawn dungeon map surrounded by the dice used to generate it. also there's a yoda coffee mug and a weed pipe barely visible. a little wink to the canny viewer.

I spoke to a dozen professional concept artists working in games about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs easier, even if it's just used in "very early ideation stages." Zero said "yes." Most said it made their job harder. I learnt a lot about concept artists. You should too!

A real swing and miss with this new Affinity announcement. Canva takes the biggest selling point for many artists using Affinity “We don’t have AI nonsense” and says “But what if we added A BUNCH of AI nonsense!” Sure makes me glad I bought the old licensed version before they sold it off.

This is particularly weird to me, having lived through the Golden Age of Webcomics. It wasn’t even democracy, it was complete anarchy. We made so many comics and some of them were terrible and some were gloriously weird and nobody stopped us. Nobody is stopping anyone now! You can just make a comic!
